More Fairies

This is the second week of the challenge theme "Fairies" and the Design Team has been busy. Hopefully after viewing what they have created, you will be tempted to enter the challenge. Just go to the shortcut at the top of my sidebar and it will take you directly to the original post.

My Sweet Pea fairy is on a designer paper background on which I have added some reflective stickers in two corners.  She is colored with Copic markers.  She is getting ready to water some flowers made with a Stampin' Up stamp and punch.  These are also colored with Copics and have a brad as the center.

For Week 2 of Fairies at The Cheerful Stamp Pad I used an image from Sweet Pea named Magic Spread by Ching-Chou Kuik. The lilies reminded me of stargazer lilies so I tried to replicate their colour. I used spica clear glitter pen on her wings. There are some awesome images at Sweet Pea Designs.

Hello. For the second week of our Fairies challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad I have made another project using the lovely Darkling image by Janna Prosvirina which is available from our sponsor, Sweet Pea Stamps.  This time I decided to make a parchment piece.  I shaded the image which I had printed onto parchment, cut with spellbinders grand oval and layered onto a paper which had shades of purple and pink. I attached vintage ribbon around the perimeter and layered everything with foam mount onto lilac matte card then layered onto cream linen card. I finished with some gems and die cut corners. For the second week of the "fairies" challenge I've made an ATC with another darling fairy provided to our DT by our challenge sponsor Sweet Pea Stamps.  I printed this digital image on designer paper by Gecko Galz and colored it with colored pencils.  I added this to my ATC card base and decorated with borders and flowers.  I do love working with the darling images from Sweet Pea and I hope you will play for the chance to own some of these images for yourself

Fairies Come Out on This Blog.

Fairies are coming out everywhere on this blog the next two weeks.  The Design Team has created a number of pieces  to inspire you.  Their images are from Sweet Pea Stamps.  I hope you will join us in this challenge for the next two weeks.

I just love the fairy images from Sweet Pea Stamps.  They are all gorgeous and it is hard to pick one as a favorite.  My rose fairy is printed on a piece of white cardstock and then I added some gold embellishment stickers to the corners..  The image was then placed on a piece of cardstock that I had altered a couple of years ago and never used all of it.  In the corner are some pick felt flowers with stones as centers.

For my card I used the lovely Ching chou kuik's 'magic spread' digi kindly supplied by our sponsor, Sweet Pea Stamps. I coloured with spectrum noir pencils and cut the image with a Spellbinders nestie die, brushing with antique linen distress ink before removing from the die. This was then matted on to another Spellbinders nestie die cut using some matt gold card, which was also embossed. The paisley embossed background was created with an embossalicious folder using some cream card with gold glitter, brushing this with the antique linen ink, adding the strip of corrugated card, sentiment, gems and hessian and wood flowers. Everything was then matted on to matt gold card and then a kraft card blank. I based the card on a sketch - more info on my blog.

For Week 1 of the Fairies challenge I chose this super sweet image coloured her in pink and fussy cut, I had the cloud background in the scrap folder. I added a couple of shiny butterflies and I haven't decided what I would use this for so left the sentiments off for now.

My ATC in celebration of fairies starts with this digital image from our sponsor Sweet Pea Stamps printed on designer paper by Gecko Galz.  I colored the image with pencils, outlined in black pen and added the sun and flowers border.  This is such a wonderful challenge theme; I hope you will join us!

Hello, I used the lovely Darkling by Janna Prosvirina, which is available from out sponsor, Sweet Pea Stamps.I coloured her with alcohol markers and layered parts of the image, I cut it with a Spellbinders grand nestie and used Distress Inks and roughed it a bit for a distressed look. I layered it onto a sheet of paper printed from Craft Artist and layered this onto pale blue card. I made a floral arrangement by curving a bough of purple flowers and placing this onto a nest of tattered florals cut from Tulle using Tim Holtz sizzix die. I finished off with a few leaves cut from Spellbinders. Finished piece is aprox 8 x 10 inches.All The Best. xx

Hello My Lovelies!Did I tell you I love owls? No? But I do! So for the second week of Owls I made a card using another lovely image called Mr and Mrs and designed by Theresa Sherman which was kindly supplied by our sponsor Sweet Peas Stamps. I colored it with watercolor pencils and layered it on a book page and then on a scrapbook paper. I also added some chipboard flowers and a sentiment.Keep playing along with us and have an inspiring week!

For my card I used Concetta Kilmer's 'owl hearts' Sweet Pea digital image keeping the colouring to sepia tones, including a little distress sponging around the edges before tearing around a perspex oval template and using an offcut of brown card with a larger template to back the image. The background paper is actually from My Mind's Eye lost and found Christmas, but I think it can be used for occasions other than Christmas. This was wrapped in the centre by some lovely natural jute from Poundland, with  maroon offcut down the centre that matches the background, finishing with some lovely textured natural canvas and cork flowers, again from Poundland.

For the second week of Owls I chose a digi from Sweet Pea Stamps named Olivia and Peter by Norma J. Burrell. I coloured the image with Coastal Cabana Blendablities from Stampin Up, copics and spica glitter pen. The patterned paper is from Printworks, I picked up at a dollar store. The cardstock is Burmuda Bay and Kraft.

For week two of the "owls" challenge at the I've made a tag featuring a lovely owl and woman image from artist Norma Burrell and provided by our challenge sponsor Sweet Pea Stamps.  I printed the digital image onto designer paper from Gecko Galz and then colored the image with colored pencils and outlined it in black pen.  I added washi tape, letter stickers, a flower, ribbon, etc.

For the second week of our Owls challenge I have chosen this lovely image by Theresa Sherman called Mr and Mrs. It is available from our sponsor, Sweet Pea Stamps. I decided to make something with a rustic feel. I coloured Teri's image with alcohol markers and pencils and made a wall plaque using an MDF blank from Joanna Sheen. It measures 11 inches x 5 inches so it is a good size and holes were pre-drilled. I used Mod Podge matt to cover it with Tim Holtz Paper Stash from the 12x12 pad. The wooden leaf embellishment is from Artemio and I coloured it with alcohol marker. The frayed fabric flower is from Funky Junkie (cut from a roll) and I added metal leaves by Creative Expressions. I cut the letters from grunge paper using Tim Holtz Block Talk XL Sizzix die and coloured them with gold laquer pen. I made the hanger part from hairy string (twine) and wooden, painted buttons.

Challenge #110 - "Owls"

Stampers will give a big "hoot" for this challenge as the theme is "Owls".  You may enter any type project as long as there is an owl on it.  The owl my be stamped, a digital or hand-drawn.

These cute little owls are from my sponsor "Sweet Pea Stamps" and they were placed on a background from Gecko Galz.  The branch they are sitting on a actually a piece of twine wrapped a couple of time around the background designer paper.

Hello!  Today we have a new challenge - Owls. I hope you will join in with our challenge and we are a mixed media blog so you can enter anything that fits the theme, card, tag, art journal, etc.I made a wall hanging.  The image  I used is the lovely Hoot Owl by Norma J Burnell. It is available from our sponsor Sweet Pea Stamps as are many other beautiful digital and rubber stamps. 

 

I coloured two images with alcohol markers and layered parts. The background is a canvas board, 7 inches x 5 inches, I punched holes around the four sides with my crop a dile and inserted eyelets, I added texture with texture paste through a dotty stencil, painted it  with Heather matt chalk paint then inked through the Tim Holtz  trellis stencil with black soot distress ink. I threaded  hairy string (twine) through the eyelets and also through two metal  Graphic 45 flowers. I finished off with metal leaves. a corrugated cardboard butterfly and a Prima flower.

I love owls and here are two owls in love! We got some wonderful digital images from our sponsor Sweet Pea Stamps to work with.I printed the digital image onto paper by Gecko Galz and colored it with pencils.  I tore it and placed on some additional Gecko Galz paper and added lace and some hearts I punched from designer paper from my stash.

Week 1 of the Owls challenge, I chose this funky autumn owl, since we have been Zentanle-ing the past couple of weeks I thought I would use the same technique. I used the Fleur dis lis rectangle die and layered it on a sheet of patterned paper from Bo Bunny. The image is from Sweet Pea and is called Autumn Hooty by Concetta Kilmer.

Hello everyone!For the first week of Owls, I made a card using an image kindly supplied by our sponsor Sweet Peas Stamps. I colored it with watercolor pencils and I layered it onto a cardstock and a scrapbook paper. You can find both at Toke and Crie which is from Brazil. I also added some pearls, some buttons and a lovely sentiment. Keep playing along with us and have an inspiring week!

I recycled this lovely Sweet Pea Stamps image (Silentness (owl version) digi by Ching Chou Cuik) which had been coloured with spectrum noir pens and mounted on to a piece of blue angel hair and then on to a piece of white mulberry paper, with the addition of a few gems here and there to give a bit of bling. This was then mounted on to a piece of paper from a magazine freebie, with the lovely lace with ribbon slotted through.

Good Morning

I am delighted to be joining Vicki and the lovely Design Team at The Cheerful Stamp Pad for week 2 of the Zentangle Challenge. I do hope you will join in. I was given this lovely digital stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps to play with. It is called Treat Hummer by Norma J Burnell. I coloured it with alcohol markers and polychromos pencils then went over it liberally with Sakura, Gold, Silver, Stardust and Glaze pens. I was not able to catch the shimmer properly in my pic, sorry, but there is a LOT of shimmer there! It is layered with black card and I added some die cut corners and layered it onto a zentangle backing sheet which I created in Craft Artist Professional 2 and printed onto super smooth digital paper, layered onto black card.

My zentangle image is from artist Courtney McAnsh and was colored with Copic markers.  This was a fun image to color.   Every time I see a moon I think about dreaming, thus the sentiment.

Our DT is continuing to work with the zentangle art of Courtney McAnsh, designer of digital images at Sweet Pea Stamps, our challenge sponsor. I've taken Courtney's moon zentangle and combined it with images from Gecko Galz for my creation this week. I printed the wonderful digital moon image and colored it with colored pencils.  I used background paper and a vintage lady image from Gecko Galz and arranged them with the zentangle.  I added washi tape, a pink lace border, a white heart brad and the words "moon love" which I formed with vellum stickers.  I hope you will join our challenge!

I added more zentangle to Courtney McAnsh's zetangle elephant (click the link to see the original), kindly supplied by the Sweet Pea Stampers as sponsors of the challenge. The backing paper is some I've had for ages from PDA paper card & craft, on to which I added a cut out of faux black crocodile. The strip across the top is recycled from some craft packaging and the ribbon/bow is Papermania. I thought it was appropriate to add the Belated Birthday Wishes as elephants never forget ... but sometimes we humans do!

For the second week of zentangles, I made a tag using another image designed by Courtney McAnsh and you can find it at Sweet Peas Stamps. It is a lovely fairy which I colored with pencils and gel pens. I also added some fabric flowers, lace,ribbons, crystals and a cute wooden message peg. Card one

I couldn't decide which of the awesome digis I wanted to create with so I did both. The first card is a Halloween card (it isn't too early is it?) The image is by Norma J Burnell from Sweet Pea Stamps and is named Treat Hummer. Background from a Halloween pad and on my table there was a scrap of Halloween paper so I punched the edges and added some orange and white twine.

This image is just gorgeous, of course I love cats the image is by Norma J Burnell at Sweet Pea Stamps named Cat's Cradle.  My light Spectrum Noir markers came to good use as I wanted a softer looking image. the background is from a different Halloween pack and the swirl was added as accent for the background.

Challenge #109 - "Zentangle"

I really admire anyone who can Zentangle an image.  I love the beautiful work of Zentangle, but I just don't have the skill or the patience.  If you can do this technique, please enter, but to make it possible for everyone to enter, you may also use an image that has the appearance of zentangle.  That is what I have done with the beautiful images below.

I really wanted to color this cute little elephant from Sweet Pea Stamps, but most of the zentangle I see is done with black pen and white space.  However, you will notice below that my fellow DT members treated the image differently.  The little sign the elephant is carrying says "Believe You Can and You Are Half There" is a little sign that was part of a piece of designer cardstock.

Zentangles are great fun to make, but there are also zentangle images out in the world to play with too.  We are working with the zentangle art of Courtney McAnsh, designer of digital images at Sweet Pea Stamps. I've taken courtney's elephant zentangle and made two alphabet ATCs.
With both ATCs I printed the digital image and colored with colored pencils.  On the first I used a background paper from itKuPiLLi and added a flower and washi tape.  The word elephant was stamped with my Mason Row Pegz.

For the second ATC the background sunburst paper is from McMahon five designs and I added flowers and a letter.  I decided to share both ATCs because I like the contrast as they were each done slightly differently.

I love zentagles and for the first week of our challenge, I created card using an image from Sweet Pea Stamps designer Courtney McAnsh.I colored my elephant with pencils and layered it onto three different scrapbook papers.Then I added some flowers, pearls, a sentiment and lace. This card is for my mother. You can also see the roses I bought her. It's her birhday. Hope you play along with us!Have an inspiring week!

For the first week of the challenge I chose this lovely elephant, coloured with Spectrum noir markers, the colours were a little brighter than I had planned but I'm liking it now. The sponsor is Zendangle from Sweet Pea Designs. With the exception of the patterned paper everything was from the scrap folder.

I created the background by brushing a Spectrum Noir aqua tint and splattering with water. The moon image is Sweet Pea Stamps  Courtney Mcanshs 'to the moon and back' digital, kindly provided by the challenge sponsor. This image  already had an element of zentangle, but I added to it and also decorated around the edges of the background before mounting on to a black card blank.

Second Week of Spring

I know many of  you are wishing for Springtime and the only thing you are getting is another snowstorm..  Why not brighten your day by creating a springtime entry for my challenge?  You may enter two times.  If you enter more than twice, you will be disqualified.  For the shortcut to this challenge announcement, look at the top of my sidebar.

The Design Team has been busy thinking about Spring and have created some pieces of inspiration.

I chose to use a lovely butterfly image from my sponsor Sweet Pea Stamps.  If you go to their store you will find it in a frame.  I chose to remove her from the frame.  She is placed on designer paper of  flowers.  On top of the paper I added some whimsical flowers and a sentiment.

For my springtime card I have used Elaine Cox's Thumbelina stamp inked with memento tuxedo black and coloured with promarkers and flexmarkers, mounted on to an offcut of striped card and then on to a card blank with a pastel tartan type pattern. I wrapped yellow and white twine around the card, finished off with felt buttons from Poundland and Papermania yellow bows, raising the image with 3D foam.

For the second week of the Springtime challenge I used a Sweet Pea digital image called Spring Fairy from Connie Fong. Isn't she the sweetest image. I coloured her with Blendablities and copics layered her on a scalloped die cut then popped her up on the decorative oval die cut. I embossed the white layer with a butterfly folder.

For my design card I've used Sweet Pea Stamps digi  “Night Dreamer” by Ching Chou Kuik colouring with watercolor pencils. Then, I mounted my lovely image which I love on three scrapbook papers and I added a couple of laise trims, 3D stickers, pearls and a sentiment.

This gorgeous digital stamp called "Mary's Magic" was created by Joanne Schempp for Sweet Pea Stamps.  I colored it with colored pencils, fussy cut it and arrange it on some designer paper and cloth lace. I added a couple stickers as well.  This definitely makes me want to make sure the front yard is suitably messy so that fairies can be comfortable hiding there!  Well, anyway that's my excuse for voiding yard work!  Play along with our challenge for the chance at a  "sweet" pea prize!

Challenge #104 - "Springtime"

Even though some of you are buried in snow, I thought you would enjoy making something with a feel of Spring.  Please note, that you should not enter more than twice if you want to be included in the random generated drawing.  Let's see what the Design Team has created.

This beautiful image is from Sweet Pea Stamps.    She has a Blue Jay on her shoulder.  The base card is white.  On top of that is a black mat and then some grey/blue designer paper followed by another black mat and then the image on top.  She is colored with Copic markers.  The scan with doesn't show it, but her headband is completely covered  with diamond Stickles and the flower in the center of the headband  is covered with blue stickles.  A very delicate silver border is under the image.

The digital image I used for the first week of Springtime is called Toadstool Fascination and was designed by Ching Chou Kuik. You can find it at Sweet Peas Stamps. I colored my lovely image with pencils and acrylics and framed it. Then I layered my image on a scrapbook paper. For my design card I've used Sweet Pea Stamps 'peachy pink fairy' digi by Ching Chou Kuik colouring with spectrum noir pens., with Art Institute glitter with quickie glue pen on to the wings. This was cut out with a deckle edged nestie die and brushes on the edges with tattered rose distress ink.The background papers are from my offcuts box and the panel behind the image was made by a mask and acrylic paint with my gelli plate. I added various pieces of washi tape and flowers from Hobbycraft.

For the first week of the Spring challenge I went with spring flowers and pink, the image is Awareness Ribbon Angel from Charmaine Flannery, you can find this image at Sweet Pea Stamps.  This is a lovely image and you can colour the ribbon whatever cause you might need it for. I used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches I added star dust stickles to the wings. I hope you will join us for the Springtime challenge.

The lovely digital stamp which I've colored with pencils is called "forget me not" and was created by artist Ching-Chou Kuik for Sweet Pea Stamps.  I love love love this stamp!  I used simple designer papers, borders and stickers to finish this simple card celebrating the spring we hope for.
