The girl carrying the heart below reminds me how I love to watch western movies.  Maybe there is one on tonight,

    My Day at Gecko Galz

Today I am being featured on Gecko Galz Scrapbooking website.  Here are a couple of samples I made  using images from their store.

I really like this card and had someone picked out who would receive it, but my daughter's dog got hold of it and tore it apart.  I manage to salvage all of it with the exception of the background designer paper.  I was going to put it back together,  but I do not have any more of that designer  paper. Oh well, I won't let him in my workroom any more!

The lacey part under the image is a recycled piece of an old commercial card.

The tag uses one of the jewel domino images.  The bottom of the tag looks like part of it is missing.  It is not really as I made my tag from a paper I made using the Gelli plate and it just happens that  there is a white area at the bottom.  Also for an embellishment I used 4 rows of rhinestones.    The black and white spray is a piece of chipboard.  The bow at the top is silver and seems to pick up a reflection of the purple acrylic paint.

Thanks to the generosity of Gecko Galz here is a free image for you.

    Art Journal Page

I love making art journal pages, but sometimes I think I am not spontaneous enough.  I have a tendency to try and think everything through.  In any case, this is one of my latest pages.  I start with a few close-ups.

I will enter this in the challenge on Unruly Paperarts.

The journal page uses acrylic paints, Gelli Plate, homemade texture paste, felt and a lovely image from Gecko Galz.  I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

    Is Spring Around the Corner?

I know everyone in the East and South will be getting snow the next couple of days.  However I took an old piece of Gelli print and made a Spring card.

    Blue Christmas

I recently got out my Gelli plate and made loads of prints.  This one is perfect as the background for my Blue Christmas card.  Since the Gelli  print is so busy, I only used an image from Lunagirl Images and a sentiment.   However, I did use some Stickles in random spots on the background to make the card sparkle.  My card is a 6 x 6 one.  I really enjoy making this size even though it costs more to mail.

By the way, Lunagirl Moonbeams is having a challenge called "Blue Christmas".

    Another Gelli Plate Page

Here is a Gelli Plate  art journal page I just made.  The background has a lot of layers of pinks and yellows.  This is the first time I have used this stencil.  I am looking forward to using it again and in different ways.

    A Little Christmas

I made a Gelli print with Christmas colors since Christmas is in all the stores now even before Thanksgiving.  My scanner must be old because it doesn't seem to pick up the true colors.  There is a little blue in the background, but there is also a lot of pink and red which isn't showing up.  Those colors with the green dots and dashes really makes the print have the Christmas feel.

    Challenge #71 - "Let's Stencil"

This challenge is a little different from what I usually post.  It is "Use a Stencil".  The DT does not care how the stencil was used.  It can be on a art journal page, a canvass, a card or even an ATC.  You are not limited is to how you use your stencil as long as we can tell that a stencil was used.
    Vicki
I  used a piece of cardstock which had been used during a session of Gelli printing.  It basically was a piece on which I cleaned my brayer and brushes. The scan does show the reds and yellows in the paint.  I used a StencilGirl flower stencil at the top and a tree stencil at the bottom.  The flowers have a silver sheen to them and the trees are a dull grey.

I decided to make a card with my cardstock and this is what I created.  The image is from Gecko Galz.  I really like the way the paint fades off in the corner. Hopefully, you can visualize the two children walking out of the scary woods on Halloween night.

The remainder of the cardstock with the flowers will be used for another project.

I used stencils with a gelli plate. First I made a print of yellow dabbing a scrunched up piece of paper on to the acrylic paint to give a mottled effect. I then used a lovely leafy stencil from Clarity Stamps to overlay and lightly stamped some trees in the background using an Inkadinkado stamp with memento rich cocoa. I randomly used Sheena Douglass stamps inked stazon black.

I love stencils. They are ever so versatile and make immediately a wonderful impact. For this card a StencilGirl stencil, distress inks, Perfect Pearls for the inky stripes, a lacey heart and a Mulberry flower was almost all that was needed
    Michele
I used to be kind of afraid of stencils, as I was not sure how to use them effectively.  Through practice I'm learning that stencils can be used so many different ways.  I inked the Stencil Girl flower stencil with red ink over a piece of sheet music for "Ode to Joy."  The original plan was to make a bookmark but when the squared top seemed to boring I ended up turning this into an arch.  The cardboard base is covered with some designer paper and then I added the torn piece of sheet music with the stenciled flowers.  I used a circle die cut to round the top and embellished with some washi tape, the title of the song, a butterfly brad and some vintage images from a Lunagirl collage sheet called "Fly Away Home."

I am so pleased to have StenciGirl Products as my sponsor this time.  They carry an abundant supply of stencils in various sizes.  If you buy a number of stencils for your art work, you may want to look into their Stencil Club.  You are able to receive stencils through the club that are not sold on the general website.

    "Be Inspired"-Week 2

I really was pleased to see all the entries for the past challenge.  There were so many good projects etc.  I am glad I use the random generator as it would have been hard to pick a winner.  Thanks so much to everyone who entered.  BTW sometimes I am a little late in posting the winner as I usually wait until I hear back so I can get the winner's full name.  Remember, I notify you if you are a winner.  If you have your email posted on your blog, I use that.  If not, I notify you through the comment section.  If you take time to enter, my challenges, I feel letting you know is the least thing I can do so you don't have to continuously come back to see if you are a winner.

Here is the picture we are using for inspiration for the current challenge.  Come and join in on the fun.

Now let's see how  the Design Team was inspired.

Here is a Gelli print that I made patterning it somewhat to the background in the inspirational picture.  My pattern is a little more subtle than the one in the picture.

Then I took the cardstock I had painted and cut it to fit my card.  This is how it ended.
     Vicki
This card is serving a dual purpose.  It is also an inspirational piece for Lunagirl Moonbeams who is having the theme "Gypsy"

This week I chose the cherries on top of the cake for my inspiration.  I used a stamp from Stampa Rosa of a single cherry.  Using red ink I stamped the card base at random, then with black ink I stamped the image three times on red cs, and added Glossy Accents to just the cherry and not he stem.  Once they were dry I trimmed them and added to the card.
The sentiment is PC generated and is from the game of Jacks. (This is an OLD game with two or more players and no electronic device was used ...LOL)

    Michele
I made another tag inspired by the cake picture.  This time my imagination took me to a garden fairy tea party. I used vintage fairy images,a vintage teacup image and various papers to complete my tag.  This is a more abstract challenge than usual -- but also fun.  I hope you will play along.

I was inspired to use cherries, cakes and an embossed diamond panel using an embossalicious folder with my eBosser. The plaid background paper mounted on to a red card blank was a magazine freebie. The strip of cherries mounted between strips of gingham ribbon was printed from a digital image from The Crafty Pad, which I coloured with spectrum noirs. The circles of cupcakes were from a Kanban kit. They are glittered around the edge.

    Gelli Walks the Runway

Here is another favorite Gelli print.  (I am getting too many favorites!)  In the scan you really can't see the lines of pink very well.  After I finished this print, I was looking through a magazine in the doctor's office and spotted this gal.  I asked the receptionist if I could have that page and she told me to take the whole magazine.  So you will see some more runway models.  Hopefully I can make Gelli prints to match like this just happened to be.  This match up was a great find.  The picture was from the magazine ELLE.

    Drunken Stampers' Challenge

Drunken Stampers is starting up its challenges again.  This time they will have one of the following categories-Person, Place or Thing.  The first one will be to make an entry in the category "person" which this time is "Athlete".  The Design Team will be rotating challenges with their inspirational pieces.

Here is my pieces of inspiration.  I first started with a piece of a page from a book on which I used in my Gelli printing.
I cut it down to size and since the page had a tear in it, I made a few more tears and then used my image from Priscillastyles...the bicycle for the cyclist which I is the athlete I chose.  I added a couple of words and my finished project is below.
Come on over to the Drunken Stampers website and join in on the fun.
