Hot Weather Means Going to the Beach

Don't forget that Lunagirl Moonbeams are still enjoying the summer with a "Bathing Beauties" challenge.

This piece of cardstock has been lying on my work table forever and I was tired of moving it around so I decided the best thing to do with it is use it.  I am not sure how I made this background.  I just know it started out as a piece of red cardstock.  I know, it is hard to believe!   If you look closely, you will see a hint of red.

Below you will see what I made with a piece of it.  At least there is not quite as much to move around until I can use the rest.  Yes, I am sure, at least I hope, not the only one who saves all the leftovers from a project.

The sand was made with a piece of tan cardstock stenciled with a little brown ink.  And, of course, the image is from Lunagirl!

Another Week for "From the Past"

Here we go with another week of challenges about the past.  We have had some wonderful entries so far and we hope to see more this week.  Here are some more pieces of inspiration from the Design Team.  These images from Altered Pages are wonderful, don't you think?  Drop by the site and check them out.  While you are  here on the blog, I would love for you to become a follower, if you are not already.
Vicki
My card starts with a tan card base.  On top is a piece of designer paper which has old cars on it even though they are hard to see.  On top of the mat of designer paper is a Cheery Lynn die,  Last layer is the Altered Pages image from the Petticoat Sheet.  Finally, I added as embellishment some paper flowers, two diecut sprays of leaves and a diecut butterfly.

I am also entering this card in Gingersnap Creations' "Last Century"

This week I've used another image from the Altered Pages "Pretty Petticoats" collage sheet to make this more 'humourous' card to go with the great sentiment image from CS Designs. I thought this sentiment matched the image perfectly! I've sewn the patterned papers onto the card and used a die cut to make the flower and leaves embellishment.

The Queen of Hearts
Another wonderful image from this month's sponsor 'Altered Pages', Pretty Petticoats. She is definitely up to something with her playing cards (lol). The background is created with vintage playing cards from Two Peas in a Bucket, stamped on with Stampers Anonymous card stamp and distress inks. The edges of the little tag are lightly distress with ink. The sentiment is printed and the little crown my cutting.
Valerie
Hi, here is Valerie. I have made a tag which has been cut using TH's cabinet card die, stamped with a BG stamp in resist ink, and then coloured with vintage photo. The second layer is a script stamp (LaBlanche), stamped with the same colour, and then the image stamped on top of that, once again using the same ink. It appears to be a little darker because it has been clear embossed. I gave the lady a necklace of liquid pearls, and decorated the tag with some vintage lace, a narrow ribbon, and a flower made up of die-cut old paper from the 18th century with a prima flower sandwiched between. I fixed it together with a string knot. I finished it off with a metal word *spirit*

Have a good week you all, and thanks for looking!

This lovely lady comes from the Altered Pages "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" images sheet. I've collaged her onto black card stock decorated with vintage advertisement decorative paper, tissue tape, a butterfly, a dragonfly and more. Vintage collage is great fun and the Altered Pages sheets give you lots of great vintage images to work with. There is still another week for you to join our challenge!

Jenn made an ATC with one of the fabulous vintage images from the Pretty Petticoats Collage Sheet from Altered Pages. I added copper eyelets and a piece of text-imprinted ribbon

Challenge # 40 "From the Past"

First I want to say how thrilled I am to have had so many entries in my last challenge.  The winner will probably be notified late Tuesday or early Wednesday as there are still some entries I have not viewed and I want to look at them all.
Vicki
For my vintage card I used a black base.  On that of that I used some designer paper of purple, green and mauve.  Then a I put a horizontal strip of purple cardstock and then a page from an old book.  Then I add a part of a diecut out of green.  For the image I used an image from Altered Pages'  Pretty Petticoat Collage Sheet.  As an accent I used a piece of old lace and from my stash I found some purple bling.  This card was really fun to create.

I am also entering this in Gingersnap Creations' "Last Century".

I've used this great vintage lady from the Altered Pages "Pretty Petticoats" Collage Sheet and the new sketch from the Fussy  Fancy and Friday Challenge Blog to layout the card. I love vintage style so this is a great theme!
Valerie
Hi everybody, Valerie here. This card is my DT piece for this week.I have used speciality stamping paper from LaBlanche, distressed with Victorian velvet and crushed sage DIs. The background has been stamped with a script stamp and some flourishes (both from LaBlanche). I added some paper lace, rub-ons, prima-flowers and an image from my stash. The cameo is one of a boxful I bought years back from EBAY. I have tried to give the feeling of past times with the soft colours and floral images.

This piece is focused on a beautiful Flower Maiden from times past - an digital image from our Sponsor 'Altered Pages'. I printed the image, cut it as circle and layered it on a wooden disk. The disk has been treated with distress stains and Perfect Pearls. Once the image was glued on to the disk I embellished the image and disk with acryllic paint, lots of blue and dark red micro beads and diamond glaze. And then turned it into a brooch with felt backing and brooch needle.

Altered Pages has a lot of images that work perfectly for our theme this week, with images representing many different eras and events. This image came from the Flower Maidens sheet. I did a collage card with this image, using additional papers and embellishments from my stash.

These beautiful images/collage sheets from Altered Pages are so much fun to work with. I took a coaster, painted it with white Gesso and then used Mod Podge to attach the image to the center and dried flower petals around the image, creating a frame. I stuck a magnet on the back and have a great gift ready for someone.
Altered Pages

I am so excited to have Altered Pages as my sponsor for the challenge "'From the Past"  The challenge is perfect for them as they have some wonderful images as illustrated in some of the inspirational pieces the Design Team has presented above.

Before you make your vintage creation for my challenge, drop by Jean's Altered Pages and see if there isn't a collage sheet you can use for your entry.  Even though it is not a requirement to use one of her images she had loads of wonderful vintage images.  If you are the fortunate blogger to be the winner of the challenge she will send you 4 collage sheets.  Now that is a great prize to work toward!   So get busy.
