Lunagirl Moonbeams Starts a New Challenge

Lunagirl Moonbeams are starting a new challenge today.  It is "Steampunk"  This is going to be another fun challenge on their site.  The Design Team has really had a great time working on their pieces of inspiration.is

This is my piece of inspiration for the challenge.  If you look closely, you will see a piece of a Lunagirl background, 6 Lunagirl images and just for fun a little bling near the top.  Just think, if  you make a Steampunk tag, you can enter Lunagirl's challenge and my tag challenge.  That makes entering in the Steampunk challenge twice the fun!

Make a Tag Challenge

How easy it is to make a tag!  Come and join the challenge by submitting an entry.  All winners are chosen by random generator so anyone can win whether they are just a beginner or advance crafter.  If you can't find where the challenge was announced, just look at the top of my sidebar and click on the current challenge name.  You will go right to the announcement because I post quite a bit between challenges.

You can submit any shape tag or size as long as the entry resembles a tag,   You can pick the theme or just make one with colors.  The choice is yours

.  Below are some tags from the Design Team I hope will inspire you.

Vicki
The background of my tag is a SPARK a paper that was sent to inspire.  My McMahon Five digital is an image of an orange with a verse of inspiration from the Bible.  The oranges I colored with Copics seem to have a reddish color in my scan, but they really are more orange.  This is one of a set I bought from Sue of McMahon Five quite a while back.  I plan to also make a set of note cards with these images.
Michele
To create my dreamy feeling week two tag creation I started with the "rainbow" digital background sheet by McMahon Five.  I colored the "butterfly child" digi, also by our challenge sponsor, with promarkers.  I added a tissue paper heart, flower, and brad, and a vine cut out of designer origami paper.  Enjoy, have a great week and I hope you join the tag challenge!
Krisha
My tag, this week is mounted onto a card.  I just love the McMahon Five Design image and sentiment.  After printing it I cut it into a tag and colored it with Prisma colored pencils and Gelatoes.  The tag was mounted three times on coordinating c.s. and the mounted onto a dry embossed panel, then a black panel and then onto the card. I added a grunge board swirl and tied it off with raffia
Sharon
I've made a collection of little tags using collage images and stamps on some beautiful quality paper

The main image on this tag is one from our sponsor for this challenge. Other additions came from my stash.

Petra
It is Summer! And beach time! I created this little beach tag with our sponsor's digital images adding just a little bit of sparkle and a very sparkly sunflower.

The lovely image from the sponsor is perfect for a quick tag or bookmark. I lightly coloured some spots with pastels, then added two larger coordinating tags. Cotton threads in the same fresh summer colours finish off this quick project, perfect for a last minute gift!
Barb
I thought this sea turtle was just so cute, and the paper was also adorable both are from McMahon Five The sentiment was also from the same place. I coloured the sea turtle with pencil crayons and odourless mineral spirits. The Tim Holtz tag and bookplates was used in cutting both the printed paper and the base. The second tag is from a Sizzix scallop tag #2. Hope you join us for the second week of the challenge.

McMahon Five is my sponsor for this challenge.  Please visit her site and look at all the wonderful images Sue has to offer.  My sponsors so graciously agree to sponsor my challenge so I urge you to go and patronize them from time to time.

Digital Backgrounds

Digital backgrounds can really aid you in making a card.  Here I have used a blue digital background created by Lunagirl.  I also used a Lunagirl image of a vintage woman and girl with flowers.  As added embellishments I used flourishes, flowers and a sentiment made of acrylic.   Drop over to the Lunagirl soon and enter the "digital background" challenge  by creating something using a digital background.  You have a little over a day  (Sunday evening) to enter.

More Gelli Art

Here is a page I made the other day.  I really like the way it turned out.  It uses a couple of recently purchased stencils   I like the way the white flowers pop out of the background layers.   "Summer Flowers" is what I named this one

Exploring Gelli

Exploring Gelli is what I am calling my book of Gelli prints. I have done all the Gelli work on the book, but now have to do the embellishing.  Posted here I have the cover and the page on the other side.  These two are finished.

This is how I made my prints from the chipboard book.  I first covered the front and back of each page with Gesso.  After this was thoroughly dry, I starting putting the layers of acrylic paint on using some of my stencils.  For some reason, my scan does not show the areas of red on the cover.  My little jalopy was stamped on tissue paper and the writing was done with Sharpie markers.

The reverse side, or first page, was an Oops piece.  After I added the layers of paint on this one, I thought I would use my tree stencil on it to add some trees.  Well, it didn't make a complete image in all parts of the stencil,  However, I did like the results of having partial trees.  Next I thought I would add a yellow flower on the page, but it looked terrible as it was actually the mask of a flower.  So I quickly ran to the bathroom sink, grabbed an old sponge and proceeded to scrub the yellow paint off with water hoping I wouldn't mess up my background I had worked so hard on.  Well, after I finished scrubbing there was a hint of  yellow left.  Now I really like how it turned out.  The quote came from the Quote Garden.

As I finish the other 10 pages I will post them two at a time so my post won't be too long.

Challenge #65 - "Make a Tag"

Summer is really flying by and school will be starting soon.  I am sure everyone is trying to get ready for school so we have a very easy challenge this time.  Just make a tag...no restrictions on size or shape....just so it looks like a tag.  Of course, we would love it if you used an image from McMahon Five, my sponsor this time.
Vicki
My tag uses a delightful image from McMahon Five.  I colored it with Copic markers.  The image was placed on a background  made from a napkin.  Various stickers were added to give it a beach theme..

Michele
This simple tag features the turtle background digital image from our challenge sponsor McMahon 5 and the digital beach girl with sand.  I added a sentiment from my stash.  It feels great to continue celebrating summer!  I hope you will join the challenge.
Krisha
I chose the flip flop background paper from McMahon Five Designs for my tag this week.  I then enlarge the print and trimmed out the blue flip flops.  The edge of the tag and flip flops are distressed with blue ink.  I added TH die cut flowers, with a pink rhinestone flower in the centers.  Sticker for the letters and a "fun in the sun" stamp from the $$store.  The lower edge has gold embossing powder and real small shells.
For my tag I used background papers, an image & sentiment from our sponsor!
I love the bright colours and repeated them in the cottons I tied on the tag.
Barb
I chose this cute boy image playing in the sand, the background paper is also from McMahon, I cut the tag with my Tim Holtz Tags and Bookplates Movers and shapers die, I trimmed it a little.  I layered it on turquoise which I also cut from the tag die. The sentimet also came from the same site, I was excited as I love the Beatles and have a few of their CDs.  One day I will remember to bring accessories with me to the cottage, fortunately I had left a ball of yarn and I used it  for the "tail" on the tag

I am excited to have McMahon Five as my  sponsor for the next two weeks.  Sue has some really cute images and she is known for the beautiful cancer images.  These are amazing and are very appropriate to send to someone who is experiencing this disease.

Lunagirl Moonbeams' New Challenge

There is a new challenge over at Lunagirl.  It is to use a digital background.  On this card I used a "text" background, an advertisement ref Roses.  I thought I would see how  a stamped image would look directly on top of the background.  I am pleased.  The Rose stamp is by PSX and the sentiment is by Koette Hall.

Karen, of Lunagirl put all the collage sheets in the "background" category on sale starting today when we started the new challenge http://lunagirl.com/collections/digital-collage-sheet-backgrounds   for $2 each which is almost 50% off.   The Women and; Men CD and Vintage Lovers CD will stay on sale at least until then.  The last sale date for those will be Sunday, June 14 (to go along with the challenge)

Current Challenge

My current theme is "You Make A Lovely Couple"  I  haven't had very many entries for the challenge yet.  I know if you look through your stash, you will find an image or stamp of a man and woman or a girl and boy.  If not, don't forget you can use two different images to make up your couple.  Twisted Papers is offering a great prize, so go through your stash and create something for the challenge.

Here are some samples from the Design Team to inspire you.
Vicki
My Twisted Papers image has been distress a little and I placed it on a piece of embossed designer paper.  On top of that is some netting that came with a ham.  At the bottom is a scrap burlap ribbon.  As additional embellishment I placed two button and an sentiment that was left over from a package of sentiments.

Michele
This week I've chosen to make a tag with one of the lovely couple images from our challenge sponsor Twisted Papers.  This couple has such a friendly, easy-going way about them and such a natural feel so I chose nature themed designer papers and embellishments.  I also included a sticker along the side, "the greatest of these is love."  Enjoy!
Krisha
Week two of this great challenge and I chose to use this sweet image, courtesy of our sponsor Twisted Paper, to make an anniversary tag. I did a background paper from Scrap in a Snap, added lace trims, paper flowers, pearls and ribbon.  I distressed the edges with TH Distressed ink: Vintage Photo.
Sharon
I've used an image from our sponsor for this challenge to make my card along with papers from Gecko Galz. Vintage lace and gemstone plus a little gold "Best Wishes" tag finish it all off! This could be an engagement or wedding card!
Yvonne
A card for a special couple is my DT piece this week. Lots of layers and trimmings from my stash as well as a lovely image from our sponsor

.
Barb

I chose this image from Twisted Papers, they have a lot of great vintage pictures. I saw a program on PBS last Sunday (not much on TV) it was about the pictures the men carried when the went to war during the Civil War, the article said they were 4 X 5 inches (I think that is the size, I was listening with only one ear) and they quite often had embossed gold frames and were carried in tins to protect them. This was my inspiration for my "photo" I embossed a piece of gold gift bag (limited supplies) with an Asian folder cut the oval and arranged in on top of the picture with a border of early expresso card stock.
Petra
Another wonderful inspiring image from Twisted Papers - Sisters. I layered the image on patterend paper which I stitched around the edges, The sentiment (von Herzen - from the heart) is heat-embossed and covered with Stickles. The finishing touches are silk binding, some pins and a vintage button.

I tried to create a sense of age, of days gone by with my very simple card.  The background is direct to paper with a copper stamp pad and some extra inking with a brush. I distressed the edges of the 'old photo' & layer with a scissors and brown pastel. It will make a fun anniversary or wedding card, I think...

Lunagirl's "Great Gatsby"

I decided to do something a little different for my inspirational piece on Lunagirl's Moonbeams is to alter a printer's tray.  The pictures can be found on Lunagirl's Vintage Women and Men CD which just happens to be on sale.  The items of embellishment are basically from my mother's and father's "stuff" which most people would have thrown away.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the collage.  Now go quickly and enter Lunagirl's  Great Gatsby challenge.

Challenge #64-"You Make a Lovely Couple"

I hope you enjoyed my last challenge "From the Past".  Now we are going with projects that have a couple on it.  A couple is determined by a man and a woman or a boy and girl.  You may do either.  The Design Team is looking forward to seeing what you create with this theme.  Here are some creations to inspire you from the Design Team.
Vicki
I distressed my mat of designer paper and then placed my beautiful digital of a vintage couple from Twisted Papers.

Krisha
Twisted Paper is our sponsor for this challenge and I chose a framed photo of this couple for my card. It was trimmed and mounted on designer paper then onto a card that had been covered with tissue paper and aged with distressed inks.  The sentiment is from Reflections, stamped and embossed with gold. The flowers were made with the same mounting paper.
Michele
This happy couple at the beach, a vintage image provided by our challenge sponsor Twisted Papers, inspired me to create a honeymoon postcard.  In addition to the main image I've collaged various papers, bits of map and travel and beach themed embellishments to invoke that "wish you were here" feeling.  This is a lovely challenge to celebrate love and happiness; hope you'll decide to join!

I used two images from our sponsor to make  my  project  look like pages in a family album.

Petra
They are so lovely together, a romantic and sweet image from our sponsor Twisted Paper. On the inked background I use GrungePaste and layered it with painted calico. The punched f
lowers and one sentiment layer is made from left-over cardboard, the sentiment stamped on inked watercolour paper.
Rene
My project is a page out of a memory book with some stubs from a movie. The photo is from our generous sponsor Twisted Papers. I made a little story about the vintage couple that you can read on my blog.

Barbara
When I saw the images offered by the sponsor I knew I wanted to make it into an ATC card these are 2 1/2 X 3 1/3 inches and so cute. I cut the rectan to gle opening in Close to Cocoa and embossed it with a woodgrain embossing folder. the early expresso opening was also done with a smaller rectangle die. The embellishents are made with the end of the fancy labels I spellbinder die and trimmed.

Twisted Papers

I am so excited ro have Twisted Papers as my sponsor this time.  If you take a trip to their site, you will be amazed at all the wonderful digital images they carry.  Their pricing is comparable to other digital sites, but their quality is superb.  The winner of this challenge will be chosen by the random generator and they are offering a great prize to the winner, so join in.

So Far My Favorite

I have been working with my Gelli Plate a lot lately and so far this is my favorite creation using the technique.  I just love the way the roses came out.  I didn't think the white would show up, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I have made a small book using the Gelli Plate,  It is almost finished and I can't wait to post pictures of it.  I still have two pages to go.

Just Some Lines

Just Some Lines Team is taking a summer break and this is the last challenge for a while.  It will end in five days.  So dig through your JSL images and enter this week.  You can create anything as long as you use a JSL image.  Here is my inspiration for the challenge.
I used a SPARK, a piece of paper  that Carolyn Dube created, that was sent to me for inspiration I cut it apart and since it was so colorful and reminded me of summer, I made a summer break card.  This is what I hope to do in the next couple of days if it would stop raining.  if not,  I may be able to go swimming in my back yard soon.

I colored my digi with Copic markers and added some embellishments I found in my stash.

Pull out your JSL images and enter soon.

Lunagirl Moonbeams Spotlight "The Great Gatsby"

Lunagirl Moonbeams spotlight "The Great Gatsby" in the current challenge announced today.  Don't you have some images from the 20s?  If so, use them to create something for the challenge which begins today.  Here are my pieces of inspiration.

This is a couple from one of the Lunagirl CDs.  You will find the images on the CD even nicer than those on the collage sheets.  They are really good quality images.  I offset my image a little on this card as I placed t he silver stars down the right side to balance t he card..  The purple mat was used to make the purple in the image pop.

I always think of the 20s as being simple, but classy and dramatic and that is the feeling I tried to show in this card.  The background is from one of Lunagirl's collage background sheets and the image is from one of the CDs.  I think the colors go together perfectly.  The sentiment is from my stash

Don't forget to drop onto Lunagirl' Moonbeams' blog and see the inspiration of others and enter your project.  Also, if you do it this week you can come back and enter the same in my current challenge "From the Past".  I hope to see you in both places.

"From the Past"

We are beginning the second week of our challenge "From the Past"  If you have taken a look at the site of my sponsor Vintage Image Craft, you will see all the wonderful images they have.  We are only spotlighting a few.
Vicki
My card has good ole Uncle Sam with a firecracker ready to celebrate the 4th.  The designer paper behind him has all the images of the 4th on it.  A mat of red cardstock mats the image from the designer paper.  Of course, my image is from my sponsor Vintage Image Craft.

Michele
What a charming little boy! This vintage image from our challenge sponsor really brings a smile.  Since it is such a sweet image I embellished him very simply with coordinating papers and stickers.  Happy Independence Day to those who celebrate!

Krisha
Our Sponsor, Vintage Image Craft, made this tag an easy project.  The image was mounted on a layer of 3 tags, tore at different lengths, and glued together.  The background stamp is the words to "Oh Beautiful" from A Country Welcome.  All 3 tags were aged with TH Distressed Inks. A wooden star, some aged ribbon and antiqued pearls finished it off.
Barb
I chose this image from our sponsor, I just loved the vintage look I printed it on Very Vanilla and layered it on Old Olive and a bright yellow. Popped it up on Old Olive that I used a Fleur dis lis border punch.
I used an image from our sponsor to make this card. The borders were added using a computer craft program.
Petra
After all it is Wimbledon ... and lots of people are talking about Tennis! This lovely image from our sponsor is just perfect for the occasion. I stamped the background with Rogue Redhead stamps and layered the image on patterend paper from Papermania. Mulberry flower, a stamped sentiment, bling, button and lace completed the card.
I really like this sweet image from Vintage Image Craft and decided to keep it simple and make an ATC. I just added some dimension with Glossy Accents. The patriotic theme fits in with the 4th of July Celebrations that are coming up.
Sharon
This card uses a cute vintage style fairy image from Paper Imagery Designs mounted on some embossed card. I used distress ink to rub over some of the elements to give an olde worlde feel. I love to create vintage style things!

Don't forget to drop by and visit my sponsor.  Thanks to them we are able to have challenges..  The theme of this challenge is very easy so come on and enter.  The shortcut to the challenge announcement is at the top of my sidebar.
