Challenge # 9 - "Let's Relax"

This post will stay at the top as long as this challenge is running.  Please scroll down for newer posts.

Now that most of my computer problems have been solved (I  hope) I am  posting my newest challenge.  The theme is "Let's Relax".  I thought this would be the perfect theme after having a hectic holiday and computer problems.

Each of us has a different way to relax.  Some go to the gym and exercise, others get on a bike and ride,  and others read, stretch across the bed for a nap, or even sit down in one's craft room.  I would love to see what you do to relax.

My sponsor for this challenge is Rogue Redhead Designs.  Sharon Briss of  Rogue Redhead Designs is offering a number of  stamps from her first plate.

Below are some inspirations from the Design Team for this challenge.

My husband got a Kindle for Christmas and I an Ipad so we are both trying to do a little more reading even if it is electronically.  Going into the world of others is a great form of relaxation.  It is something you can do without disturbing others too.

My card uses Antique Wallpaper technique for the background.  Stamps are from Rogue Redhead Designs.  Coloring was done with Copics.
Barbara
There's nothing I find more relaxing than sitting by a large body of water and listening to the waves hit the shore. Just typing that idea brings a smile to my face. I have to admit, that I don't get much of a chance to sit by the sea. I live in Chicago, in the heart of the midwest. However, we do have Lake Michigan which has its own relaxing beauty. For my card I used an image and sentiment from the Artistic Outpost stamp set Beyond the sea. I tried to keep with sea type colors and the background is embossed with swirls, reminding me of the waves. I guess I'll have to stick to stamping images of the sea for a while, at least until the snow melts.

So the holidays are now over and this is just how I feel. I don't think I have moved much since New Year's Eve. Stamped image is from Red Rubber Romance, done with paper piecing. Sentiments are PC generated. All I can say is thank goodness it is an other 11 months before we do it all over again! LOL

NOTE: The winner will be posted near the top on my sidebar for all future challenges

Gingersnap Creations Color Challenge

The Gingersnap Creations GC#88 Color Challenge this week is Coffee and Cream.  For my inspirational piece I chose to do an Aged Tiles technique card.  The collage stamp showing a lady standing in front of the Colosseum in Rome is by Hampton Art Stamps.  The tiles are distressed with Ranger Vintage Photo color.  To give the card a little elegance I chose to add a string of pearls underneath the stamped picture and tie a bow with them.  Under the pearls is a piece of really old paper lace that I have had for years and never knew what to do with it.

With this card I finish up my month of being a Visiting Artist with Gingersnap Creations.  It has really been a fun time.

Tea Bag Template

As Visiting Artist for Gingersnp Creations' GC#87 Random Redhead Challenge I was given a template to use to create a tea bag holder.  I decided to also make a box to hold my tea bags.  This matching set would make a great gift for a friend or someone who is feeling under the weather.
Below is a close-up of the two tea bags.

Listening to a Bird's Song

My challenge and the entries of others have really given me loads of ways to relax.  Why isn't it I can't relax?  My doctor is always telling me that my problems are stress.

Not too long ago I did a tutorial on Acrylic Embossed and this was the card I made for it.  I never got around to posting it on my blog.  Also, it shows another way to relax...listening to the song of a bird.

This card does not have any stamping.  I used only embossing folders and acrylic paint, Nestibilites, a diecut, and rub-on letters.

Watching Nature

Nothing can be more relaxing than watching nature.  This card  uses a deer stamp from Penny Black..  The image is cut apart and distressed to make Aged Tiles.  The greeting is from Oogaloo   I used colors on  the card following the theme colors for Play Date Cafe PDCC64 this week.

Below is a second card I did using the same same and greeting. I like this one much better than the first. It uses the Clipped Corners technique

Gingersnap Creations Supply Challenge

The theme this month at Gingersnaps Creations is "Hot Beverages".  In connection with this theme the challenge at Gingersnaps this week is the  GC 86 Spicey Supply using coffee filters.  Below is a closeup and a full view of my project.  I dyed the coffee filters and cut them out with Spellbinders and placed them on a fan that I cut out with my Cricut machine.

I did not adhere the round pieces of coffee filter down completely.  I only used glue in the middle of each circle.  This gave the background dimension and made in look more fluffy and delicate.  The pieces were placed randomly.

The main image of the girl with the book is by Rogue Redhead Designs.  I decided on a ghostly color for her as I felt putting her on white cardstock would have been too stark.  As you can tell by the label that the book is the key to the color of the things around her. t

Challenge #9 - Delayed

I'm sorry to say that I am having to delay my next challenge.  It will definitely be up by 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12.  My PC was updated and I have not been able to upload pictures.  I just got it tweaked and now it is working (I hope).  Don't you love surprises like that?  It always happens at the worst time.

Since I am not posting the challenge until  early Wednesday morning, I will let you know the theme so you can get a head start.  It is "Let's Relax" sponsored by Rogue Redhead Designs.  It will last until Wednesday, Janurary 26.  I regret the delay.

Challenge #8 - Life in Times Past

This post will stay on top while this challenge is running.  Scroll down to see newer posts.

The Cheerful Stamp Pad is starting the new year with the theme "Life in Times Past".  Barbara and I have made a couple of cards to inspire you.
Vicki

I have chosen to put a Wisped Frame around my vintage image by Stampabilities.  The greeting is by an unknown manufacturer.  Under the mat for the image is printed cardstock which I have distressed to resemble Worn Wallpaper.  All inking was done with Vintage Photo color distressed ink.  As an accent I attached a metal piece of scroll.
Barbara

When Vicki decided on Life in Times Past as the challenge theme, I immediately went to my Stampsmith stamps. This is one of the stamps I really love. By stamping the image in sepia, I tried to keep that vintage feeling. The background was done using an embossing folder and then highlighting the raised letters. The background was also distressed using distress inks. Two filligree corners embellish the image.

Unity Stamps has graciously offered a set of their stamps to the winner of this challenge which will be picked by random generator.

To enter this challenge, please do the following:

1.  Submit your entry directly and not to your blog.
2.  Be a follower
3.  Mention my blog and challenge and Unity Stamps on your blog.

Challenge Ends Soon

Here is another card to remind everyone that my challenge of "Life in Times Past" challenge will be ending Sunday at midnight.
I thought these two old ladies should be a picture that might have come out of an old albumn, torn and distressed.  The background is numbers signifying age.  It is made by highlighted cuttleburg numbers.  The stamp is by River City Stamps.  The saying is computer generated.
If you have a chance, come join in the challenge as I am pleased to say that Unity Stamps is sponsoring this challenge.  To enter go to the end of the top post.

I'm a Visiting Artist

I'm so excited that I have been asked to be a Visiting Artist for Gingersnaps Creations this month. Also, would you believe I'm  a Ginger Gem for the Snowpeople challenge as well.  What a great new year this has been so far
The theme for the Chestnut Theme for January is "Hot Beverages"  For my inspiration I made a card using stamps from Sweet and Sassy and Inkadinkadoo.  On the cup I did a little paper piecing.  To emphasize the coffee color, I used cardstock and pattern paper in various shades of brown with a little "cream" on top.  The mouse and cup are colored with Copics.  The scan doesn't show, but the little coffee drinker is in 3-D as his little head is peering over the cup.

With the cold and snow outside, I decided to give everyone a little warm humor.
