Challenge #11 - Colors: Red and White

I am so excited that so many of you entered my last challenge.  The winner will be announced either late Monday or Tuesday morning.  The winner will be picked by a random generator.  Hopefully if you did not win that you will come back for this challenge and future challenges.

Challenge #11 continues with an aspect of what we think about when we think of February.  It is "Colors: Red and White".  The entries to this challenge should emphasizes the colors red and white.  You may use additional colors, but it is the red and white that should draw your attention.  The entries really should not be Valentines as that was the last challenge.  Again, I will use the random generator to pick the winner of the prize.  Using this method gives equal chance not only advance stampers, but beginners as well.

Vicki

This card uses a couple of stamps from Scrolls Work. The background illustrates the Millieflori technique which is in the February / March Technique Junkies Newsletter.  Coloring was done with Copics.  The red lace was made with a Martha Stewart punch.

Barbara

The challenge theme this week is red and white, but not a Valentine. I decided to go green with this card. How does green turn into red and white? Easy. When you die cut images or shapes there are often left over pieces that you do not use. The background frames were left when I used the shape and the middle shape was left when I cut the shape out of a card front. They fit together perfectly to make the background of my card. I used a frame embossing folder to decorate the corners. As for the bird, the Tim Holtz' die contains a bird and a birdcage. I used the birdcage elsewhere and kept the bird. The gold lacy panel was just left over when I changed my mind. I think the pieces worked well to create my card. All I needed to add was the card base and the sentiment key which says "Joy". (In real life, the red of the bird and the red of the paper are closer in color. I don't know what happened with the scan.)

Wrinkle-Free Distress

Here is my sample of Tim Holtz's Wrinkle-Free Distress technique.  This is a very easy and stress-free method of coloring your paper.  It is my entry to Studio L3's  Compendium of Curiosities Challenge for Week 16.  Other challenges this is for is Gingersnap Creations' "Punches" and Simon Says Stamp and Show's Distress Challenge

The mat is using Highlighted Cuttlebug and I have a Out of the Box label.  All stamps are from Scrolls Work. As an added touch I made a fence out of a lace border punch and put in a little Flower Soft for flowers.

Just Grunge

Here is a card I just put together using Bleach Swipes with gold webbing background, a little grrunge, and stamps.  After distressing my grunge, I decided to put my sentiment on it and add a little gold trim.  The sentiment stamp is from Scrolls Work Stamps.  The old vehicle is from The Stamp Pad. Tthe card ended up being a little busy.

Scraplings-Second Pair

Once you get started making Scraplings it is hard to quit.  The nice thing about it is that they use those small pieces of cardstock.  The one on the left uses Stampin' Up's small flower stamp while the one on the right uses a stamp from Scrolls Work.

Antique Wallpaper

Heere is a card I  made a couple of weeks ago.  It uses the Antique Wallpaper background.  This is a very fun and quick technique.   The image is from Twisted Papers and the perfect greeting is from Scrolls Work.

Tag Tuesday Challenge

This week's challenge for Tag Tuesday is Christmas Colors- Red and Green.  We are unable to use Christmas images for this one so I chose a woman stamp from  Scrolls Work and grape and vine stamps from Stampin' Up.  I was afraid the "red" grapes would not look right, but when stamped on the green cardstock it appears a little closer to purple grapes.  The greeting is a sticker.  I'm really proud of my recent purchase of the lace at the bottom.  I think it gives my tag a final touch.

Faux Dominoes

Here is a card I made with Faux Dominoes.  I also made the background on each domino.  It is Faux Designer Paper.  The stamps used on the dominoes and the message are from Scrolls Work.  I think this made for a fun and an interesting card.

Bleach Swipes-Oriental Style

 

Here is another Bleach Swipes project.  This time I used gold webbing with it.  I really liked the way it turned out.  The stamps are from Scrolls Work.  Coloring was done with Copics.

Face on a Tag

I am  running a little late, but here is a tag I made for Tag Tuesday.  The theme for this past week was "faces"   The stamps are by Scrolls Work.  The TJ Technique I used is Out of the Box or in this case Off the Tag.

More Flowers

I am still into flowers.  Here is a Flower Art Card with a collage of stamps from Scrolls Work.  All stamps have the Alice in Wonderland theme.  The edges are distressed and most of the stamps are stamped in cranberry colored ink.  The collage was placed on a piece of designer paper and in various areas I used sequin waste as a stencil and there are hearts outlined to emphasize the "queen".  In the top left corner is a handmade flower.

Entering a Design Sketch Challenge

Here is my entry into the Scrolls Work card design  sketch challenge.  It has a quilted-looking background.  The center is focuses two stamps from Scrolls Work and colored lightly with pencils.

Card Sketch Challenge

This is my entry to Scroll Works Card Sketch and my first attemp at using Copic Markers.  i have a way to go to bek satisfied with my coloring.  i guess you have to start somewhere.  The background is Gesso Resist.  This is really a fun technique to do.

Copper, Ginger or Rust

 This is an entry into the Gingersnap Creations' Copper, Ginger or Rust Challenge being held.  The technique I used on this card is Whisped Frame.  Stamps came from Scrolls Work.  The lady, named Penelope, sits on a mat of copper-colored cardstock.  The entire card is covered with a copper and green print highlighted with glitter (not really noticeable).  To the left is a piece of old cream-colored lace.  On her hat is an old earring (about 75 years old).  At the bottom of the card is another very old earring.             

Ginger Wants Tuna

This is one of my favorite color combinations.  I added the yellow to set off the rust-colored cardstock.  On this card I am using two brand-new stamps I just received from Scrolls Work.  The fussy little cat is sitting in a torn frame.  He is colored with watercolor pencils.  I think the verse is just perfect for him.  I had to add the tag so RS would know where to deliver.
