Lunagirl Challenge

The theme of  Lunagirl's challenge is this time around is "Asian Art and Ephemera.  If you have a chance go to the Lunagirl site and see the tedpieces of inspiration the Lunagirl Moonbeams have created for you.

My inspirational piece for the Lunagirl theme "Asian Art and Ephemera uses a piece of designer paper as a mat and behind the Geisha  I used part of a Cherry Lynn Design die.  To make the Lunagirl image standout, I cut a black mat to go under her.

Multiple Borders

I enjoy combining products and designs to make an original one.  That is what I did with this card.  I took a border dye from Cheery Lynn Designs called Carnivale and combined it with a punch from Martha Stewart to make this lacy border and toped it with a narrow pink ribbon.  The image in the middle is the negative of a die from Cheery Lynn, Window C, and in the middle I used a cut out image from a stamp by Our Daily Bread.  Under it peeking out of the top is a diecut called Marietta Buckle from Memory Box.  The dainty butterflies are from Cheery Lynn also.  The two roses are at the place where the border comes to a point.

This card was made for the Border challenge on Classy Cards n Such.  They carry all the dies shown plus many more and some other Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.  The ribbon, roses, and punch were from my stash.

Challenge #69 - "I Love Your Hat"

I was a little disappoint that there were so few entries this past week.  I hope you will like this one better.  The challenge is "I Love Your Hat".  What can you make?  Well, anything as long as there is some type of hat in your creation.  It can be a fancy hat, a baseball cap, and even a football helmet.  Got the idea?  So easy!   You have two weeks to join the Design Team in a "hat" parade.

My card uses one of Rick St  Dennis' images (1935).  Isn't she pretty with her lovely hat of red and black veil.  I colored her with Copics.   I used a split background of polka dotsk with a ribbon divider and placed the image on a Stampin' Up die and then placed that die on a Cherry Lynn Designs die.  A small sentiment is in the corner.

I enjoyed coloring this Rick St. dennis stamp with colored pencils.  With her very fancy hat she reminded me of a good church lady and this inspired me to use the "Amazing Grace" stamp from Silver Crow Creations.  I thought the gorgeous flower and butterfly embellishments were very appropriate to this piece.  In the US you don't often see women wearing elaborate hats though in times long ago they certainly did.  It is nice to play with an image of a well-dressed lady like this one.

Here is my DT card for this week.
I LOVE her and that hat is a riot, does she not belong in the Red Hat Society?  LOL 
I printed her and the sentiment right onto the card base then colored her with pencil and OMS.  All the jewels and her coat buttons have Glossy Accents for some dimension and glossiness.
The inside reads: "But I do think it is time to dust off that old red hat and wear it!    Happy Birthday"

I've used the 1935 hat digi stamp kindly supplied by Rick Stdennis, our sponsor, coloured with spectrum noirs. I die cut around the image and distressed with peacock feathers ink and embossed a couple of die cuts to mat behind. Papers are Basic Grey majorlaine, again brushed with peacock feathers distress ink. Various other elements from stash including the lace that was coloured with the peacock feathers to match.

The digital image is from Rick St dennis and I printed a larger image to use. I am very fond of Monochromatic cards and equally love PURPLE of any shade. the die cut is a Nellie Snellen. I love using the die cut as a frame then use the cut out piece on the inside with a sentiment on it.

What a stylish Lady! I absolutely adore her outfit - especially her hat a wonderful digital image from our sponsor Rick St Dennis. I layered the image which is coloured with Copics and colouring pencils on patterend papers and added lots of sparkle and embellishments and a stamped sentiment to the card.

My inspiration for this project were the sparkling hat pins nestled in feathers, velvet ribbons and lace bows of turn of the century hats.The theme was beautifully illustrated with two Rick St. Dennis digital stamps; 1906 Hat and 1929 Hat. Both images were colored with Prismacolor colored pencils. The pins were made by threading beads onto hat pin blanks.  The box was covered with paper from BoBunny which provided the inspiration for the colors used in the project.
