"Be Inspired"-Week 2

 

I really was pleased to see all the entries for the past challenge.  There were so many good projects etc.  I am glad I use the random generator as it would have been hard to pick a winner.  Thanks so much to everyone who entered.  BTW sometimes I am a little late in posting the winner as I usually wait until I hear back so I can get the winner's full name.  Remember, I notify you if you are a winner.  If you have your email posted on your blog, I use that.  If not, I notify you through the comment section.  If you take time to enter, my challenges, I feel letting you know is the least thing I can do so you don't have to continuously come back to see if you are a winner.

Now let's see how  the Design Team was inspired.

Here is a Gelli print that I made patterning it somewhat to the background in the inspirational picture.  My pattern is a little more subtle than the one in the picture.

 

Then I took the cardstock I had painted and cut it to fit my card.  This is how it ended.

This card is serving a dual purpose.  It is also an inspirational piece for Lunagirl Moonbeams who is having the theme "Gypsy"

This week I chose the cherries on top of the cake for my inspiration.  I used a stamp from Stampa Rosa of a single cherry.  Using red ink I stamped the card base at random, then with black ink I stamped the image three times on red cs, and added Glossy Accents to just the cherry and not he stem.  Once they were dry I trimmed them and added to the card. 
The sentiment is PC generated and is from the game of Jacks. (This is an OLD game with two or more players and no electronic device was used ...LOL)

I made another tag inspired by the cake picture.  This time my imagination took me to a garden fairy tea party. I used vintage fairy images,a vintage teacup image and various papers to complete my tag.  This is a more abstract challenge than usual -- but also fun.  I hope you will play along.

I was inspired to use cherries, cakes and an embossed diamond panel using an embossalicious folder with my eBosser. The plaid background paper mounted on to a red card blank was a magazine freebie. The strip of cherries mounted between strips of gingham ribbon was printed from a digital image from The Crafty Pad, which I coloured with spectrum noirs. The circles of cupcakes were from a Kanban kit. They are glittered around the edge.

Lunagirl's Challenge

You  have one more day to enter the challenge at Lunagirl.  The Lunagirl Moonbeams have posted a number of cards to give you inspiration.  Here is one final card I made for the challenge.  I  have done something a little different with the image this time.  I made the flowers three dimensional by printing out three copies of the image and placing pieces of the flowers on top of each other with pop ups.  The yellow ones have more layers than the pink so they would be in the foreground.   It is a little difficult to see, but it really gave the card depth.

Summer is Ending

Here is a summer card to celebrate the end of summer.  It uses the Lunagirl's Watermelon Seed Pack image.  The grent mat, sentiment and the watermelon slice embellishment are leftovers from a SEI kit.  I hope everyone is enjoying his Labor Day with a slice of watermelon.  Don't forget to put in an entry for the Lunagirl challenge.  There is a free seed pack image you can use on the site or you can create your own.

Lunagirl's "Seed Pack" Challenge

Lunagirl is having a "Seed Pack" challenge featuring pictures of packages of seeds.  This is the first piece I made for the challenge.  It features sunflower seeds.  I used a Cheery Lynn Designs die as a mat behind the image.

Lunagirl Challenge

The Lunagirl Moonbeams are taking part in the Lunagirl's "Alice" challenge.  Take a trip through Wonderland and visit with all the characters including Alice.  My card uses the front cover of the well-known children's book.

I placed a page from an actual Alice in Wonderland paperback book.  The  Lunagirl book cover image was placed on top of some color blocking made with scraps from my cardstock stash .  I also added part of the Queen of Hearts playing card.

Lunagirl Moonbeams Starts a New Challenge

Lunagirl Moonbeams are starting a new challenge today.  It is "Steampunk"  This is going to be another fun challenge on their site.  The Design Team has really had a great time working on their pieces of inspiration.is

 

 

This is my piece of inspiration for the challenge.  If you look closely, you will see a piece of a Lunagirl background, 6 Lunagirl images and just for fun a little bling near the top.  Just think, if  you make a Steampunk tag, you can enter Lunagirl's challenge and my tag challenge.  That makes entering in the Steampunk challenge twice the fun!

Lunagirl Moonbeams' New Challenge

There is a new challenge over at Lunagirl.  It is to use a digital background.  On this card I used a "text" background, an advertisement ref Roses.  I thought I would see how  a stamped image would look directly on top of the background.  I am pleased.  The Rose stamp is by PSX and the sentiment is by Koette Hall.

Karen, of Lunagirl put all the collage sheets in the "background" category on sale starting today when we started the new challenge http://lunagirl.com/collections/digital-collage-sheet-backgrounds   for $2 each which is almost 50% off.   The Women and; Men CD and Vintage Lovers CD will stay on sale at least until then.  The last sale date for those will be Sunday, June 14 (to go along with the challenge)

Lunagirl's "Great Gatsby"

I decided to do something a little different for my inspirational piece on Lunagirl's Moonbeams is to alter a printer's tray.  The pictures can be found on Lunagirl's Vintage Women and Men CD which just happens to be on sale.  The items of embellishment are basically from my mother's and father's "stuff" which most people would have thrown away.

Lunagirl Moonbeams Spotlight "The Great Gatsby"

Lunagirl Moonbeams spotlight "The Great Gatsby" in the current challenge announced today.  Don't you have some images from the 20s?  If so, use them to create something for the challenge which begins today.  Here are my pieces of inspiration.

   

This is a couple from one of the Lunagirl CDs.  You will find the images on the CD even nicer than those on the collage sheets.  They are really good quality images.  I offset my image a little on this card as I placed t he silver stars down the right side to balance t he card..  The purple mat was used to make the purple in the image pop.

 

I always think of the 20s as being simple, but classy and dramatic and that is the feeling I tried to show in this card.  The background is from one of Lunagirl's collage background sheets and the image is from one of the CDs.  I think the colors go together perfectly.  The sentiment is from my stash

Lunagirl's Fairy Challenge

Lunaagirl is still having a Garden Fairy Challenge.  We would love for you to come over and view the inspirations of the Moonbeans Design Team.  Here is my latest inspirational creation. I used images from three collage sheets and I was fortunate in that I printed the images at the size I needed the first time.  This was really a fun card to make and I hope you like.

A New Challenge at Lunagirl Moonbeans

I am a little late announcing that Lunagirl Moonbeans has begun a new challenge.  This is the 4th challenge and we are so excited that each week there is an increasing number of entries.  This time we have the theme "Garden Fairy".  I hope if you haven't entered one of the Lunagirl challenges you will do so this time.  Here is my first piece of inspiration for the challenge.

I took one of the images from the 1929 sheet and one of the lovely butterfly wings from another collage sheet and combined them to make my little. fairy.  The background designer paper puts her in a garden and two  large blue stones gives the card some bling.  The 3D sentiment with a butterfly on which I added a tiny blue ston finishes the card.

Bathing Beauties

Here are some additional cards and a tag using the theme "Bathing Beauties" from Lunagirl Moonbeans. Their challenge will end in seven and one-half days, so look through your stash of images and stamps for some bathing beauties and enter.  You still have plenty of time and the winner will receive one of the wonderful collage sheets from Karen's site.

This card was very simple to make.  I let my designer paper do all the work. It show the ocean in the background, the sand and a windbreaker fence on the beach.  My sentiment is "Laughter is an instant vacation" by Melton Berle.  I found it in the Quote Garden on the net.  I like the simplicity of this card. 

This card shows more of my personality.  The background is an old paperback book on which I cleaned my brayer of acrylic paint when I used my Gelli Plate.  I then tore the edges of my Lunagirl image, distress the edges with cranberry ink.  Finally I added the little acrylic fish around and on top of her to give you the feel that she was underwater.

 

Finally, my tag uses a Lunagirl image also  The blue background on the tag is another piece of a book page that I used to clean my brayer.  This time I printed my image and the lottery sheet on grey paper to give it a little of distressed look.  I torn the image out, but did not do any highlighting or distressing since the grey color came forward on the tear.  A couple of stones finishes the tag.

Let's Go to the Beach!

Let's go to the beach as Lunagirl's Moonbeans has created some projects following the theme "Bathing Beauties".  Below are a couple of cards I created as pieces of inspiration for the Lunagirl theme.

For my first card I torn the bathing beauty image from Lunagirl Moonbeams and placed it on some designer paper that looked like a beach with sand at a fence.  As embellishment I used a large seashell sticker and a sentiment on an acrylic piece.

This next card uses designer paper that looks like water.  The wave, seashells and pearls came from an embellishment kt.  Also included are the water bubbles.  Again an acrylic sentiment finishes off the card.  Below is the challenge announcement you will find on Lunagirl Moonbeams.  Now hurry over and join the challenge.  Need a shortcut?  Just click on announcement below.

 

 

Lunagirl's New Challenge

Lunagirl Moonbeans  is beginning a new challenge starting today, "Diva".   Below  is my inspirational card..

I had been hoarding this designer paper for a while so I decided to pull it out and use it.  I think it is perfect for my Lunagirl image.  In the corner I have a metal scroll piece and some Petaloo flowers.  The sentiment was a commercial sticker?d  I love the way the colors came  together.

SPARK Tag

Once a month Carolyn Dube sends out a piece of SPARK (art background she created) to use any way we wish.  This is the one sentt out for May.  Isn't it inspiring?

I took a small piece of it and made a tag using an image from Lungagirl Moonbeans.

BTW Karen at Lunagirl Moonbeans is having a challenge, her first, with the theme "Birds".  It ends soon, but you still have time to enter and she is giving away a great prize.

 

 

New Challenge Blog

There is a new challenge blog on the net!  It is Lunagirl Moonbeans.  Just click on the name in the previous sentence or the logo below and it will direct you to the site.  The challenge is a great one.  It is "Birds".  You have until Mary 20 to enter.

I am so proud to be a member of their first-ever Design Team.  Here are two creations I made for the challenge.

This card has an image of a bird with  tnfo about it.   The base card is brown and the  background mat to the image is handmade paper that someone gave me   It is very thick paper.  I took some distress ink called "Peeled Paint" and highlighted the folds and ridges of the paper.   In the corner is a piece of printed cardstock giving the definition of Celebration.  On the other side is a multi-layer flower made from flowers from Petaloo.  In the center I put a green stone to give the card a little bling.

This bird is from one of the free sheets on the sidebar of Lunagirl Moonbeam blog   The bookmark was very easy to make.  I printed a small copy of the image, cut out the bookmark with a die and then stamped a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs.  A little piece of ribbon and I was finished.
