Spring Cleaning

Here is my card using Just Some Lines' "Gab more pleasant" image. She is placed on a background of various scraps of decorative paper. They remind me of various fabrics in the house that she is preparing to clean. Gab looks like she is taking a break though from cleaning and thinking about more pleasant Spring-type things. She is colored with Copic markers. The sentiment is also by Just Some Lines.

A Sympathy Card

Here is a card I made today for a friend.  It uses a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The flowers are 3D  The second photo shows the layers on the flowers which are separated by pop ups.  I hope it brings a smile to her during this tough time.

Challenge # 40 "From the Past"

First I want to say how thrilled I am to have had so many entries in my last challenge.  The winner will probably be notified late Tuesday or early Wednesday as there are still some entries I have not viewed and I want to look at them all.

For my vintage card I used a black base.  On that of that I used some designer paper of purple, green and mauve.  Then a I put a horizontal strip of purple cardstock and then a page from an old book.  Then I add a part of a diecut out of green.  For the image I used an image from Altered Pages'  Pretty Petticoat Collage Sheet.  As an accent I used a piece of old lace and from my stash I found some purple bling.  This card was really fun to create.

I am also entering this in Gingersnap Creations' "Last Century".

Hi everybody, Valerie here. This card is my DT piece for this week.I have used speciality stamping paper from LaBlanche, distressed with Victorian velvet and crushed sage DIs. The background has been stamped with a script stamp and some flourishes (both from LaBlanche). I added some paper lace, rub-ons, prima-flowers and an image from my stash. The cameo is one of a boxful I bought years back from EBAY. I have tried to give the feeling of past times with the soft colours and floral images.

This piece is focused on a beautiful Flower Maiden from times past - an digital image from our Sponsor 'Altered Pages'. I printed the image, cut it as circle and layered it on a wooden disk. The disk has been treated with distress stains and Perfect Pearls. Once the image was glued on to the disk I embellished the image and disk with acryllic paint, lots of blue and dark red micro beads and diamond glaze. And then turned it into a brooch with felt backing and brooch needle.

Altered Pages has a lot of images that work perfectly for our theme this week, with images representing many different eras and events. This image came from the Flower Maidens sheet. I did a collage card with this image, using additional papers and embellishments from my stash.

These beautiful images/collage sheets from Altered Pages are so much fun to work with. I took a coaster, painted it with white Gesso and then used Mod Podge to attach the image to the center and dried flower petals around the image, creating a frame. I stuck a magnet on the back and have a great gift ready for someone.

Festive Flowers

Digi Darla is having a challenge called "Festive Flowers" which is being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish.  Here is a card I made for that challenge.  It is a center-step card and uses a Robyn's Fetish a digital image of a bear with a pot of flowers.

Just a Little Embossing

Using an embossing folder  can change a piece of cardstock drastically.  This little 5 in 1 box really shows it.  The entire top is out of the same piece of cardstock, but look at the top and the corner scallops.  They were embossed and then highlighted.  It is hard to believe that it is the same piece of paper as the other scallops.

I made this box for Classy Cards and Such's CCNS04 challenge.  The challenge is to use embossing folders.  This is one of my favorite things to do to a piece of cardstock.  Classy Cards and Such carries many embossing folders and the black diecut on the top is made with one of the Cheery Lynn dies which they also carry.  The leave is from another one of their dies.  The flowers are some small artifical ones that I had in my stash.  They were white.  I knew the white flowers wouldn't look right so I took my Copic markers and changed the color to match the flowers in the cardstock.  The pictures doesn't rreally show them matching, but they really do match fairly well in color.

I hope you can see how an inexpensive embossing folder can really improve the eye appeal of your creations.  Drop by Classy Cards and Such and take a peak at theirs.

We're Friends

Here is a card I made for Beverly's Classy Cards and Such.CCNS04 Embossing Folders Challenge.  I took a piece of designer cardstock and used the Dots embossing folder and highlighted it with Tuxedo Black from Momento.  I really like using this particular folder as it givess texture without destroying the design in the cardstock.

The image in the corner is "Friends" from Just Some Lines.  Isn't this cute?  Can't you image two girlfriends leaving from school the last day before summer vacation.  They are arm on arm dreaming of what they are going to do during the summer.  The image, which is colored with Copic markers, is cut and placed on a Spellbinder Nestabilities diecut.  Both the die and the embossing folder are carried by Classy Cards and Such.

My little bit of inspiration is an ATC.  The background is alcohol ink and the sentiment is very thick cardstock.  The rabbit and baby ducks are stickers.  Mr. Rabbit believes in himself that he can jump over the three little ducklings.  I think he can do it.

"Bejeweled Bird"

I had lots of jewelry bits and pieces I'd been saving. When I found a bag of metal clip candle holders, I got to thinking of what I could do to combine them. The result was this blingy bird! The body is the candle holder base. I cut off the clip (which half of became the tail) and bent down the "petals" of the holder. I attached a gold earring as the wing. The head is a washer with an earring attached for the eye. The beak is the earring back. Wires, beads and feather charms finish off the bird details. The base is a wooden block covered with designer paper and distressed.

I've made this Steampunk Themed card with a fantastic new image from Strange Skins Digis, I've embossed the background with a "Clockworks" Cuttlebug folder, added some "screw" brads and a great sentiment printed with a really funky "Steampunk Font"!!

Easter Baskets

I am still in Easter mode and need a few more Easter baskets for some chocolatey treats. These ones were so much fun and so easy to make. I stamped some Waltzing Mouse Easter eggs on white paper using distress inks in different colours and cut the images and the handle with Nestabilities egg dies. The sides and bottom of the basket are a paperstrip in matching colours to the eggs . On both sides of the strip I made little cuts so that it is easier to shape the paper. And then starts the fun with decorating. I kept it simple with a stamped sentiment from Waltzing Mouse.

For the second week of the challengeI have made a painted postcard. The background has been painted with several layers of acrylic paint, using punchinella for effects. I sponged through the waste from a TH branch tree die-cut to make the shadowy tree. The bird is from Prima.

This week I made an ATC for Easter featuring an image from Twisted Papers and silver stencil stick ons  from Classy Cards and Such. It comes on a sheet with all kinds of neat shapes.  Some lucky chick is going to win that gift certificate!  I wish you all good luck.

I used some DP from 7Gypsies and attached a large "Gluber" (glue dot) to it, then pressed and folded my ribbon to create a flower with a button center.  Simple but effective, I think.  Added a few black pearl stickers and I was done!  Good luck with the challenge, friends!

I don't usually post personal things on  my blog, but since this is probably my last grandchild,  I thought I would post a picture.  This is Caleb.  Isn't he is a doll?

Challenge # 39 "Anything Goes"

Here is the chance  you have been waiting for,  You are in the process of creating something and you can't find a challenge to enter it in.  Well this is it.  The theme is "Anything Goes".  There is only one restriction;  it cannot be something you have posted before.  You may have created it last month, but never posted.  Well that is ok.  The gals on the Desigonn Team have given you some ideas.  So get crafting as you have 2 weeks to post your creation.

As mentioned below in the information about my sponsor I bought some Cheery Lynn dies the other day and couldn't wait to use them so you will find that I used one in the the post right before this one.  I will be using some of the others during this week. 
My creation is an ornament.  Yes, I know it is not Christmas, but you will see that is has flowers on it.  I hope to make a number of these "garden" ornaments to put on a Spring tree.  One of my DT members, Cindy, told me how to make the ornament.  (She is missing on this post as she is out of town.)  The ornament is made from 3 dominoes on a metal backing.  Alcohole inks are on the background and a rose was stamped multiple times.  The ornament is surrounded by beads I had in my stash.

I found this darling baby-in-an-egg image from French Kissed Postcards and I've adhered it to some pretty blue lace paper, neutral cardstock and added a metallic Easter Bunny. I've made this "clean and simple" card using some digi images I bought ages ago and hadn't used!!! They are from Digi Design House - I love these funky dancers. I added the quote from the Quote Garden Site and stuck with the pink and black colour tonings.

Spring has definitely arrived and Easter is just around the corner. I created an easterly chunky ATC in form of a little box for Easter treats using my own template and decorating it with EchoPark patterend papers, a bunny image from the Graphics Fairy, stamps from Waltzing Mouse, fabric flowers and some little blings. Enjoy the sunshine!

For my DT piece I have made a tag cut from some Anna Griffin paper. I have over-stamped it with some flourishes in forest moss, and then placed the image - printed onto acrylic - behind the TH die-cut. I have added some bling to the tree, and two vintage scraps; the children at the front, and the owl on the lady's shoulder.

Jenn here - we had some unseasonably warm temps here in New England last week, and it got me in the SUMMER SPIRIT! I used Country Anya, a digi image from the Greeting Farm, along with a template of a peach found online at Elizabeth Dulemba's coloring page site. Travel Cards

I have been doing a number of "cute" or "whimsical cards lately, so I thought I would switch and post something a little different.  I love the images on these two cards.  They are from Hampton Arts.  They are great images to use as there are so versatile.

The first card shows only a partial image from the Hampton Art stamp.  I cut it to fit the beautiful Cheery Lynn die,  I like the fact that there are a number of different little images which can be colored.  This I did with Copic markers.

Finishing off  the card, I attached a ready-made embellishment which says "Dream" with a small butterfly attached.  This is what I am doing  now as we  almost made a trip to Paris this summer, but decided otherwise.  Now I can only dream of going.

My second card is also a travel-inspired card; I put the Hampton Art image on a very small mat of burgundy and then place that on some beautiful designer paper which is gold and has copper in the design  All of this is placed on a burgundy base card.  I didn't put a sentiment on this card as I didn't want to distract from the image.  Again, Copic markers were used to color.

Hitching a Ride

I have made a number of center-step cards lately and this one uses the cute Just Some Lines image of Tut and Peep. I image that they are going turtle speed down to the finish line and little Peep has hitched a ride. I used.Bingo tokens to show the finish line and colored the two characters brightly with Copic markers.

If you are not familiar with the center-step card, I have two views of it below. One shows the front while the other shows the side. This card sits well on a table and a sentiment can also be placed inside.

Baby ATC

It has been a while since I made an ATC.  Here is one that I made for Wicked Wednesday's ATC challenge "Babies".  I picked an older baby to put on my ATC.  It mainly has scrap papers and little digitals of babies.  I can't remember where I got the digitals.  They were in my stash.  The word "Toddler" is from the newspaper.  This was fun to make.
