More Christmas Cards

Here is another card I made for Lunagirl's "Blue Christmas".  It has embossed cardstock behind the image and a sheer, silver ribbon for embellishment.

Blue Christmas

I recently got out my Gelli plate and made loads of prints.  This one is perfect as the background for my Blue Christmas card.  Since the Gelli  print is so busy, I only used an image from Lunagirl Images and a sentiment.   However, I did use some Stickles in random spots on the background to make the card sparkle.  My card is a 6 x 6 one.  I really enjoy making this size even though it costs more to mail.

By the way, Lunagirl Moonbeams is having a challenge called "Blue Christmas".

More Signs of Christmas

I know Christmas is almost here, but the Design Team would love to see something you create pertaining to the holiday.  Here is what the Design Team has created.

A couple of  us on the Design Team chose the same image from Vintage Image Crafts.  I placed mine on a piece of designer paper that I sprayed with ink.  A small flourish was added and a sentiment were added.  I felt that the business of the background was sufficient for this card.

For the second week of the challenge I chose another fabulous Santa from Vintage Image Craft on Facebook. Again I used the image full size, with all the blue tones in the image I layered it on Night Of Navy and added the silver Dazzles thin line border stickers. I think they add a great frame for the image. Using these great images from the Facebook page of Vintage Image Craft makes it a quick and easy card for the season.

For this card I've used the Vintage Image Craft 'Here we come a-carolling' mounting this on to gold mirror card. Papers are My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas, gold spotted washi tape was from Paperchase and the flowers are prima.

This week I chose these singing angels digital image.  I used Lumiere Pearlescent white and Sunset Gold paint to accent the image.  Then attaching it to a flames candle, then adding two pieces of trim, one to the top and one to the bottom.  Wa-la! a very pretty candle, that was quick and easy.

One clear sign of Christmas is angels signing. I grabbed this darling Vintage Image Craft angel image from their Facebook page.  I've decorated this card with 2 coordinating designer papers, lace and golden embellishments.  I feel inspired to sing along!

Wonderful Christmas images from our sponsor Vintage Image Craft. I chose one for one of my Christmas cards combining the image with layers of patterned paper and card . Lace, a little bow and some buttons are the embellishments

Snow Angels

Lunagirl Moonbeams Make "Snow Angel" Projects

Lunagirl Moonbeams are working with the Lunagirl Vintage Images to make "Snow Angell" projects.  Lunagirl has some beautiful digitals of angels which are perfect for Christmas cards or to put on ornaments.  Here is a card I made recently.  This beautiful image was placed on a Cheery Lynn diecut and the holes in the diecut remind me of snow falling.  Some additional flourishes were added to accent the card.

Challenge #75-"Signs of Christmas"

Where has the time gone?  It is almost Christmas, I haven't finished shopping, made all my cards, cleaned house, nor made any cookies!  It is time to look around and see the signs of Christmas.  Below are some creations by the Design Team.

My image and sentiment from Vintage Image Craft is actually one image which I cut apart.  I made a piece of designer cardstock look like a ribbon and placed the sentiment on it.

I chose this wonderful Santa and his pack of toys to make this tag.  The tag is out of designer paper of snow flakes, and had been dry embossed with a snow flake folder.  I added some blue ribbon buntings at the bottom and scattered blue, light blue and silver snowflakes around the tag.

What a gorgeous vintage Santa image which was made available on the Vintage Image Craft Facebook page.  I used 2 coordinating designer papers, some decorative ribbon trim and a vibrant winter flower to create this card.  I love a challenge which also helps me to get things done on my "to do" list -- making Christmas cards! I hope it will help you too!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas except no snow yet. This gorgeous image I got from Vintage Image Craft on Facebook, who can resist a really great Santa. I printed it full size and layered it with Old Olive I then added a piece of patterned paper and ribbon. I didn't want to clutter it up I wanted the image as the focus.

My card depict the snow that is often a sign of Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere.  I kept the colours simple to go with the pretty vintage image from our sponsor.  A touch of gold thread & pastel crayon makes it more festive.

A Christmas ornament with a wonderful Santa image from our sponsor Vintage Image Craft. I die-cut a big snowflake, glittered it with Stickles and then used patterned paper to layer the Santa image. A little stamped sentiment, some little blings and bow is all I added to the ornament.

For this card I've used the lovely Vintage Image Craft ' 'mistletoe ensemble' image. For the background I secured some vellum on to gold mirror card with brads and added an Anna Griffin sentiment panel, all mounted on to a red card blank to use traditional Christmas colours of red, green and gold. This was based on the sketch given for Moving along with the times: time to get sketchy.

Drunken Stampers is having a "Person: Santa Clause" challenge.  So dig through your stamps and images and let the jolly guy be entered.    Here is my take on the challenge.  It is just a very simple card where Santa has the spotlight.

A Note to Challenge Winners

This post is to explain more fully my challenges.  I am probably one of a very few who notifies that winner of the random-generated drawing for my challenges.  I feel that if  you can take time to enter, I can take time to notify you that you won.   This is usually done by e-mail if your e-mail is listed on your blog.  If I can't find your e-mail on  your blog, I will let you know in the "comments" section that you have won.

In return (this is the only thing I ask of you), I ask that you send me an e-mail with your full name so I can put it under your entry on my sidebar and so I can notify the sponsor.  A first name or nickname will not do.  I can't tell my sponsor that a "Ann" or "Shu-la" won.  I need the whole name.  I try to notify the winner on Tuesday following the end of the challenge.  I expect a reply within 4 or 5 days.  I realize that people get sick, go out of town or just don't look at their blog everyday.

Just a Box

I had a box that a card kit came in and I was using it to carry my cardstock in when I met with my card group.  I really didn't like the box with the advertisement on the front so I decided to decorate.  This is what I came up with.  It is definitely not a boring box now.

 

 

 

"Decorating" Continues

Our challenge "Let's Decorate" is continuing this week.  It is a very easy challenge.  You may enter something that you use to decorate for the holiday or you may use a number of embellishments to decorate your card.  Here  is how the Design Team is using the theme this week.

The image on my card is from Lunagirl.   This time I decided to use a number of embellishments to decorate my card.  In the background is sequin waste, while in the foreground are fabric ribbon, snowflake stickers and silk flowers.

For week two I'm sharing another ornament I've made.  This one is on a chipboard pennant base and is embellished with designer paper, vintage images, flowers, pearls, die cuts, stickers and ribbon.

I used Floppy Latte 'angel' digital image, printed on to a sheet of heat resistant acetate and then quickly heat embossed with clear powder. I then used alcohol inks to colour - butterscotch, terra cotta and currant. This 'stained glass' angel now decorates the window of my craft room.

This week I used a Sassy Studio image hanging the wreath to show decorating I also decorated the card with corners and some rhinestones. Challenge #74- "Let's Decorate!"

Well, just after Thanksgiving Day our attention goes to decorating for Christmas.  Thus my challenge the next two week is "Let's Decorate".  How you approach the theme is up to you.  You can make something you can use to decorate for Christmas or you may "decorate" your card with loads of embellishments    

Let's see what the Design Team made for this challenge.

I took a Floppy Latte image and made a cute little ornament to hang on the tree. he nicest thing about this ornament is that I can give to my youngest grandson to put on the tree and it won't brake if he drops it..  The base of the ornament is a coaster from a local restaurant.  It makes the ornament very sturdy while being very light weight.  It is trimmed with a metallic-looking rick-rack.  A small bow completes the piece.

I decorated 25 matchboxes - and filled them - for a special occasion and to be used for decoration. It was the perfect project to use all those scraps and bits and pieces which I could never throw away (lol).

This is an oldie I had in my files from months back.  It really isn't a Christmas image at all, but I turned it into a pretty Christmas card.  I did alter the image by cutting off the leaves and adding holly, but the flower and swirls are original.  I printed multi prints and layered the flower making it more poinsettia style.  The flower is mounted on an embossed, pearlescent paper, then on dark green before adding to the card base, same with the sentiment.  I added red rhinestones to the holly leaves, silver beads to the center of the flower and a holly branch to the bow.  The sheer red ribbon (not the bow) was coated with clear sugar dust and white glitter.

I'm sharing an ornament i made for an ornament swap for this DT piece.  I used lots of embellishments on both the front and the back as you can see, from die cuts to charms to flowers to pearls and more. If you love to embellish your creations you'll easily have something to contribute to this challenge.  I hope you will play along.

Let's decorate, my thoughts were the hanging of the stockings, of course there are only the two of us  but I  have a couple of stocking hangers and I put them on our antique secretary. I am very fond of my house mouse stamps and this one is one of my favourites and I :"decorated" the card with lace and rhinestones and some glitter pens on the candy canes.  l

The image is Floppy latte's 'Christmas prayer silhouette', coloured with copics. I decorated my card with 16 different pieces of ribbon stuck diagonally to a piece of card, mounting on to a piece of red mirror card and then on to gold. The image was matted on to red mirror card. Some glittered flowers with prima gold spacers were then added. This is a Christmas card, so this sentiment by Floppy latte is on the insert:
