Faux Etched Copper

This is one of my favorite recently-learned techniques.  The technique is one of the featured techs in this month's Technique Junkies Newsletter.   If you haven't tried it, you must as it is easy and loads of fun.  I could spend all day working with my copper and each time the copper would look different.  I have uploaded one example here using Artistic Outpost stampsn on the faux etched copper background..

Here is a second card I made with the same technique.  I like not putting anything on the background.

Wings-A Challenge

I was anxious to see the Wing  Challenge come up on Gingersnap Creations.  When it was announced, I came up with all sorts of ideas, but somehow I ended up with this primitive bird.   It is made up of a number of  techniques.  The body is Starch Smoosh, the head Sprayed Dye,   the tail is Chalk Lines and the legs are Faux Designer Paper.  Of course, I had to add a wing.  I though a bright pink feather was perfect.  Now for the greeting--I couldn't resist.  I had to finish the card with a little humor.

Using My Copics

Here is a card I did for Pay Date Cafe Challenge using  purples and greens.  The mat behind the flower is using a sprayed dye technique.  In order to get the colloring for my flower I looked at the hydrangea in my front  yard.  This picture gave me a chance to practice using my Copic markers.  Stamp is Rubber Stampede.

Cool Tilda on a Hot and Spicey Card

This is my first Magnolia stamp and I'm showing her off using Copic Markers.  She is Cool Tilda on a Hot and Spicey card.  Hot and Spicey is the theme for Week 57 Challenge on Just Magnolia.

The stamp is placed in a Torn Frame and the background is  Highlighted Cuttlebug.  The added spice to the card is the handmade flower which has been distressed with ink.

In Appreciation Of

my winning a sheet of stamps from Artistic Outpost . I decided to make a collage.  I have not had much experience at making collages.  I don't know why I don't do them more often as I enjoy making them.  There is the old adage "Practice makes perfect".  Maybe that could apply to me!

The theme of this collage is From Boys to Men.  I was thinking about Father's Day, but I have noone to give this to as my father passed away a number of years ago, but I often think about him.

This piece contains vintage clip art from Altered Artifacts and all the stamps are from Artistic Outpost.  The stamp sheets I used are Generation Redux and Steampunk.  In addition, on the collage you will find a chipboard key, a  Cricut diecut, and a bought embellishment.  A number of different papers was used in the background along with distressed ink.

Tag Without a Hole

I made this tag without a hole because I may put it on a card at a later date.  This tag has an embossed background which I love and has been highlighted in silver ink.  On it is a stamped cutout made from Artistic Outpost stamps  As an embellishment, I placed a string of pearls above the lace and placed a pearl in the center of the flower.  As a final touch I added a piece of strip of gold trim material that had tassels. 

 I had been out of town last week when these stamps arrived and I couldn't wait to get home and use them.  I think the final piece is pleasing to the eye.  Now I need to decide if I want to use it on a card!

PDC Challenge

This is the color palette for the Play Date Cafe Challenge for this week.  Below it is my creation for this challenge. 

First I made a tags using these colors.  I liked it so much that I wondered how it would look as a card.   The scan does not show  up very well the two shades of green under the blue writtng.  The flower makes scanning difficult.

A Busy Card

Here is a card I made for a challenge, but I didn't get aeround to scanning and posting it in time for the challenge.  I used Faux Designer Paper technique for the background behind the Artistic Outpost stamp.  I got a little carried away with this card.  The tabs on the side were from a scrapbooking embellishment package.  When I first got them I thought that I would never use the tabs.  However, I like the way they set off the image.  The strips were cut thin at the bottom of the card.  Can you tell what they are from?

More Flowers

I am still into flowers.  Here is a Flower Art Card with a collage of stamps from Scrolls Work.  All stamps have the Alice in Wonderland theme.  The edges are distressed and most of the stamps are stamped in cranberry colored ink.  The collage was placed on a piece of designer paper and in various areas I used sequin waste as a stencil and there are hearts outlined to emphasize the "queen".  In the top left corner is a handmade flower.

One Last Entry

This is my final entry for the Artistic Outpost April Referral Program.  It is an altered puzzle piece.  All stamps are by Artistic Outpost with the exception of the "Explore" ticket.

Entering a Design Sketch Challenge

Here is my entry into the Scrolls Work card design  sketch challenge.  It has a quilted-looking background.  The center is focuses two stamps from Scrolls Work and colored lightly with pencils.

Growth of Flowers

This is a last minute card I did for Gingersnap Challenge "Growth". and my entry on Ink on My Fingers for her blog candy.  I did a mosaic using a stamp from Stampers Stampede.  I like the way it turned out and this was an easy way to do multiple cards.
