Wall Hanging

This is my last post for 2012.  It is a wall hanging using an image from Gecko Galz.  She is framed with a lacey diecut from Cheery Lynn Designs.  It is called French Flair Doilly.  This the first time I have used it and I like the way it framed my image  The background of the hanging is made with Clear Tar Gel, detress re-inker from  Tim Holtz, a stencil and acrylic paint and a napkin.  I haven't done very many wall hanging so this is still an experiment for me.
I made the wall hanging for Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge "Lace or Faux Lace".

Snow and Snowflakes

Well, we are forcast to have snow the day after Christmas.  It isn't the same as a White Christmas, but I'll take it.  We don't get much measureable snow in Tennessee.  I just love  to watch it fall; I'm like a little kid when it comes to snow.

This card uses Sketch 1 from 2011 from Christmas Challenges with Sketches.  I used numerous snow designer papers.  Also in the layering is a die from Cheery Lynn Designs called Mexican Tile.  This diecut can be used for so many things.  I think it is perfect for a snow theme as it is like a snowflake, so lacey.   In a couple of the corners are dies from Corners F from CLD.  The theme for the CLD this week is Happy Holidays with Layering.   Highlighting the card are a couple of snowflakes from Spellbinders.   These were cut from glitter paper.  The image in the middle is a couple of stamps from Stampin' Up.  It is colored with Copic markers and the glittery snow is Stickles.
The third challenge for this card is Our Daily Bread Designs' Snow and Snowflakes challenge, the theme for my card.  I did not have any of their winter-type stamps so I used the word Blessings from their Christmas Blessings stamp.

A Tiny Baby is Born

When I saw this digital at Create with TLC, I knew I had to have it. Even though the image is a square, I think it works well on a circle diecut.  I printed it directly on the cardstock.  I used the sketch found in this week's challenge at Christmas Challenges wih Sketches.

The base card is 6 x 6 and the dark designer paper is actually a print of holly and berries.  The goldish=green pattern "paper" is really a piece of walpaper that was the perfect color to blend with the beige scalloped circle.  The strip on the right needed to have a folded corner.  Therefore I cut a triangle of the dark designer paper and added it to the folded walpaper making it look like it is doouble-sided.

My "Merry Christmas" sentiment is on a matted oval.  As a final touch, I added silver ornate stickers on some of the corners and a couple of strips of silver to hold the pieces together.

Noel Challenge

This card is for Our Daily Bread Designs' word challenge of "Noel".  Here are my word ingredients.
N is for "New" as this is a new ODBD stamp.  I recently ordered it and I haven't had a chance to use it before.  O is for "Odd" as this is an odd earring being used for the center of my flower. I do not  have a match for it.    E is for "Embellishment" .  I used some sticker flourishes as an embellishment to the card.  L is for "Lace"  The entire background of the card has been covered in old lace.  The scan doesn't show it, but the card is reaally delicate looking..

If you have a chance, join in the challenge.  But hurry as there is only a little time left ato enter this Shinning Light Challenge.

Christmas Greetings in Layers

Here is another greeting card for the Christmas season.  This one has a number of layers.  I used  two Stampin' Up images into one on ther top circle.  I was able to use a number of designer paper scraps.  The corners are enhanced with Cheery Lynn Designs corner dies.  This card uses beige and red tones instead of the traditional red and green.

I am entering this in Christmas Challenges with Sketches and Cheery Lynn Designs' "Tis the Season" challenge.

Another Christmas Greeting

I mentioned in my previous post that I was posting a series of Christmas cards for my visitors and followers.  This is the second one.

This one is being entered in Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge "Happy Holidays".  When I think of that phrase,  I immediately think of the commercial aspect of Christmas.  However, this card was created for "Happy Holidays" as we all should be happy for the real reason for the season.  And the holidays is a time of celebration.  So let's celebrate the birth of Christ.

This is a 6 x 6 card. I am beginning to enjoy making these square cards as they give you a little more space to work on.   I first embossed the background of the card with snowflakes by using an embossing folder.  Next I cut a Cheery Lynn Mexican Tile and Doilly diecut  On the circle made with a Spellbinders die I placed my Nativity image from Stampin' Up,  In the corner I decided to use black for my Cheery Lynn flourish to enhance the black in the image.  I adjusted the flourish a little to fit the area I had.  For just a touch of glitz I put a very small flower out of glitter cardstock on the flourish.  The flower  was made with one of the embellishment dies from Cheery Lynn Designs.

Christmas Greetings

I am posting a series of Clhristmas Greetings cards for the season and they are for you, my followers and visitors to my blog  who have been so sweet as to leave me encouraging comments about my cards and other projects.  I hope you find one that you really like.

This card starts with a white embossed background.  On top of that I placed a doilly from Cheery Lynn Designs in red.  The white scolloped circle is a die cut from Spellbinders.  Down the left side is a strip of green glitter cardstock.  Below the dies is a faux ribbon made from striped designer paper with the red, green and white colors.

I used a Our Daily Bread Designs greeting in the white circle.  To finish off the card, I used flowers and leaves made from Cheeery Lynn's Build-a-Flower.  Even though it doesn't really show, I added glitter to the flowers and leaves to go with the green glitter cardstock as most Christmas cards have glitter or shimmer.

Mid-Challenge at Just Some Lines

I have made a card for Just Some Lines' midway Winter Wonderland challenge.  It is a card with a smaller front than the back.  The front has a lattice background that I made using a Martha Strwart punch..  The snowman spinning image was put on a mat of an ornament cut with a Spellbinders.  It laps over the over panel.   I thought the spinning image was perfect for the spinning ornament.  The image was colored with Copic markers.  The sentiment is computer generatored.

A Different Color of Christmas

Here is a card I mad in non-traditional colors of Christmas.  In other words there is no red and green.  I made a folded Christmas tree with double-sided cardstock and placed it on the Kiwi doilly diecut made by Cheery Lynn Designs' die.   I am entering this in the Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge "Non-traditonal Christmas Colors".  My greeting is by Recollections and it was placed on a Spellbinders diecut.

Snowman on Layers

Here is a card I made for Christmas Challenges with Sketches using the sketch they provided.  I have really been getting into this site as it give me an opportunity to use my scraps and gives me a new way of giving dimension to my cards.

I have used my all-time favorite snowman stamp.  I have used it so much; it is one made by Hero Arts.  The greeting is by Stampin'  Up.

I hope you like my card.  All the layers really give the card body.

Just Some Lines Reminder

This is just a reminder that Just Some Lines is having a challenge with the theme "Give Thanks".  Just use of the JSL images and enter into the challenge.  Below is my inspirational card.for the challenge.

Following a Sketch

Here is a card I made following a sketch on Christmas Challenges with Sketches.  It has multiple layers of Christmas paper, some die cuts and a digital image I have had for a long time, but I don't but know its origin.   The picture of the two tags are the ones that go inside the front of  the card.

Layer Upon Layer

I'm getting in the mood for Christmas.  Here is a multi-layer 6-inch square card.  I have been able to use a lot of scraps from Christmas past with this card.  My folded tree is the focal image of the card instead of a digital or stamped image.  I have my Christsmas message / greeting  inside.  This card is being entered in Christmas Challenges with Sketches.

Going Vintage

Here is a vintage card I made using a digital from Just Some Lines.  This is my inspirational piece for their challenge of Recycling and Repurpose..  I used a pair of earrings that I had made and I hadn't worn them in a long time.  I thought they were the perfect color to include with my flowers.

I am also entering this in Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge Vintage.  Cheery Lynn dies are the Celtic Fire Rectangle Frame and the Build a Flower #2 and Embellishment  #2.  These are the very first flowers I have made with the Build A Flower dies.  I am very pleased how they turned out.

Butterflies for Remembering

1,500,000 Innocent children perished in the Holocaust.  In an effort to remember them, Holocaust Museum Houston is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies.

The butterflies will eventually comprise a breath-taking exhibition for all to remember. The exhibition dates will be announced once an appropriate venue has been selected. The Museum has already collected an estimated 1,350,000 butterflies.

Below are the butterflies that my card group is sending to the museum.  You may want to join the Butterfly Project.  For more information check the Houston Holocaust Museum web site.

Reminder for JSL Challenge

This is a reminder for Just Some Lines' "Anything Halloween".  The challenge is in its second week of the challenge.  You still have a little time to enter.  Below is my inspiration for the challenge.
My little card is a 6 x 6 square one. with many layers.  I beieve there are 6 layers not counting the matting for each layer. All these layers really made a sturdy card and it gave me a chance to use up of  my Halloween paper scraps.  The little girl in her devil costume was colored with Copics.

Don't forget to put in your entry to the challenge.

Winter is on the Way

Well, we have really had warm weather so far this fall, but now the temperature is falling and all the little squirrels and other animals are getting ready for the cold.  Cold weather means "snow".  We really don't usually get much snow in Tennessee, but making cards about snow in the warm house, suits me just fine.  Here is my first one for this year..

Following a Sketch

This is the sketch that Our Daily Bread Designs is using for their challenge ODBDSLC126 this week.

This is the card I made following the sketch above.

On the white base I placed a piece of lavendar designer paper of roses.  On top of that are two lacey circles by Spellbinders. These were stamped with two Our Daily Bread Design stamps.  Next I placed a silver ornate trim from the fabric department at Wal-mart.  As a final touch are two strips of purple ribbon, a bow and a corner adorner cut with  a Cheery Lynn Designs die.

October Colors --Black and Orange

Well the colors for October are black and orange.  So I pulled out those colors from my stash.  Below is what I created with the items I found.  I used the small lacey butterfly die from Cheery Lynn Designs with a backing of light orange cardstock.  The sentiment "Time Flies" is on a matted die by Spellbinders.  The trail of the butterfly is made with a glossy flourish sticker.   Everything was placed on a designer paper blackground of clocks.  I am also entering this on Cheery Lynn Designs' Challenge #49 "Black and Orange".

Fall is Here

I really like the Fall.  However, I know winter and cold weather are soon to follow.  Here is a card I made for the second week of Just Some Lines' challenge "Fall Colors".

This is a get well card I made for a friend who just got home after having surgery.  It uses an image from Just Some Lines and a gate made by a Cheery Lynn Designs.   I am not sure which dies were used for the leaves as they were given to me by a friend.  The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread.  I am entering this in the Keep it Krafty challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs.

I wanted to make my card on the light side to cheer her up,  but at the same time give encouragement and I think this fits the bill.

Fall Colors

I just love all the colors of Fall.  Therefore I was glad to see Just Some Lines have a challenge Using Fall Colors.  This is my inspiration for the challenge.  It uses the image Bird in a Tree from Just Some Lines.  It was colored with Copic markers.

This card uses a number of scraps of designer paper that had Fall colors.  I had fun coloring the whimsical image.

If you have a chance drop over to their site and take part in the challenge.  Also there are a number of images in the JSL store that would be great for her challenge.

A Mystical Feeling

My card is a little on the abstract this time.  I made my background with  alcohol inks and a dragonfly stamp from Rubber Stampede.  The Polynesian Sail Oval die is from Cheery Lynn Designs The smaller die is the inside you get when cutting the main die.  I trimmed it down to fit the area.  The sentiment on the smaller die is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I am entering this in Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge "Frame It" and Our Daily Bread Designs' "Make Your Own Background".

Words of Encouragement

Here is a card I made today using one of my favorite color combinations....black and white.  I used designer paper on part of the card base and placed my sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs on white cardstock and matted with black caardstock which were cut from a Spellbinders die.  In the corner is a ribbon buckle by Memory Box.  As additional embellishment I put on part of a 3D flower design.  All the elements are carried by Classy Cards and Such.

Reminder Post

I am a little late in posting my reminder to join the Just Some Lines challenge of using two or more types of colorant.  I used a background of Copic markers and colored the "Autumn " image with water markers.

The last couple days have been unbelievable.  Everytime I thought I was going to get on my PC something happened.  The first thing I had to do is to send my PC to be checked out for possible repair.  That meant I would be using my old PC.  Every word that had an "a" in it had to be typed twice at a slow pace as the "a" didn't want to type.  This was enough to pull one's hair out in frustration.

A Card for a Special Occasion

Here is a card I made for someone's special birthday.   The base card is white and on top I placed some beautiful green with a hint of blue designer paper.  On top of that is some latticework made with a Cheery Lynn Designs die.  A border which was made with a Martha Stewart punch accents the top of the card.  In the corner of the image, which is from Lunagirl, I used another CLD die.  To set off the girl's dress, I placed a tiny bow.

I am entering this in Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge Borders and Edgers.

More Than One Coloring Medium

The new challenge at Just Some Lines is to use more than one coloring medium.  For my inspirational piece I used chalk in the background of the image.  The blue sky and the very light green are both chalk while the Just Some Lines' image, Kyra Watching, is colored with Copic markers.

I thought having the image behind the window made an interesting presentation on the card.

Upcoming Challenges

The Design Team and I are taking a Fall Break fron challenges. The members have been working so hard and they deserve a break.   When we begin again I will be starting something different.  I hope you will like the addition of an "Upcoming Challenges" list on my sidebar.  This way you will be able to plan ahead a little on my challenges.  It will give the date, the theme of the challenge and the sponsor.  Now for today's post.......
This is a card I made for ODBDSLC121 Our Daily Bread's Shining the Light Challenge "You Leave Me in Stitches".  I love working in blue and white.  My card has a blue base with a white border made by a Martha Strwart punch.  The Our Daily Bread image is as Bible verse from Psalm 48 which has been placed on a lighter blue mat with stitching.  As embellishment I chose  a flourish by Cheery Lynn Designs which I enhanced to fit the space and a white rose made with a Spellbinders die.  I am also entering this in Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge Stitch It Up.

Just Some Lines' Challenge

Just Some Lines is having a "Back to School" challenge.  It is in its secon week now so drop by and take part.  Here is my inspiratonal piece for the challenge.  The school bus with all the kids is, of course, a Just Some Lines image.  Coloring was done wth Copic markers.  Can't you just see it rockin' and rollin' down the road?
